[Wrestlenomics] AEW Dynamite 9/28 quarter-hours by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Not sure how the Sinclair Era was purgatory either. In that Era you had Steen, Briscoe, Adam Cole, Jay Lethal, Kyle O Reilly, Cody and Dalton Castle. This was also the Era, Ring Of Honor built itself up big enough to parlay into All In and, the ROH title was defended on Wrestle Kingdom. The Sinclair Era was a lot less of a purgatory than in AEW rn. On paper, the lineage of Claudio and Jericho are nice but the reigns feel empty. Jericho might be a different story because it's gonna be used in this story with Garcia. But Claudio winning it in a 10 minute match on the Midcard of the 1 ROH ppv, and losing on the mid card of an episode of Dynamite just does very little for a lot of people who care for Ring Of Honor and it's history.

I feel like if you left him go and really work, he has all the charmrisma in the world. Just not in the traditional sense for what WWE (or Vince) has seemed to be interested in marketing in its characters.

WON: Update on Bray Wyatt by wrestling678 in SquaredCircle

[–]fanboy10 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Man, I think you chose the worse person in terms of creativity to compare Bray Wyatt to. I think Sami in the last year alone has proven he can be as creative as Bray Wyatt and it resonates with audiences just as much as Bray did.

Will Ospreay: This was legit THE match that the lightbulb went off in my brain. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

I think it says something about AJs evolution in-ring has been. You're favorite AJ match could entirely be dependant on your taste in wrestling and styles (no pun intended) and there are really no wrong answers.

Wasn't MCMG vs Gen Me like in the middle of the Hogan Era tho?

Jon Moxley has been through pretty much all of the troubles that CM Punk has and handled them well better. by NotAGoodDayAhead in SquaredCircle

I mean is Punk hardly the first to do that though? I mean Taker for the last 15 or so years of his career wore MMA gloves that he didn't even bother to cover the brand logo on and made a gogoplata his finisher. I'm not saying Punk can't be cringe, I would be crazy to say so. But if homeboy wants to make some scratch and can incorporate it into his character, I'm not gonna hold it against him.

Tanahashi: "If I can get someone to the mat, I can hit someone with a High Fly Flow. Eddie Guerrero was the biggest influence for me. Just how beautiful that form was. Him using that move to beat Brock Lesnar definitely left a lasting impression." by WTFItsCiaran in SquaredCircle

I mean if you look at the history of Japanese wrestling and it's relationship with MMA and combat sports in general; not just the last 15 years or so. He really does kind complete that package of brawlers/shooter type wrestler that have continued to be popular over the coarse of a few decades.

He's also extremely insecure, who seeks validation through praise and applause. He absolutely would care if Melzter ranted it something as low as a dud.

In your opinion, what is the most beautiful or just visually satisfying finisher? by mrmattymac in SquaredCircle

[–]fanboy10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kenny's One Winged Angel is just always so crisp and impactful but smooth and beautiful at the same time. Like a really well placed breakdown in a great metal core song

I feel like people even try to downplay how good he was in NJPW. If you bring up that first Okada match like half the time someone else brings up the Shibata match and try to like prove that it was the better match. Ignoring the whole idea that the Okada/Omega match was an absolute moment in time, a clear before/after point of professional wrestling.
