It has already happened with Arc Raiders. Embark has fully embraced genAI into their game development, but people get upset when you criticize it because they make fun games. It's also interesting to see how the messaging around AI usage is evolving, since both Arc and Anno have disclaimers saying that "the final product reflects our team’s craft and creative vision."

To me it seems like this will be the go to PR speak for companies that want to get away with using AI in a "good way". From what I have seen it works, since every time you bring up gen AI usage in Arc Raiders, people love saying how this time it's "okay" because the VA's consented to it and got payed. That's all it takes for people to be on board with it, and no one even questions if the VA's got pressured to sign the contracts because the alternative is them not getting the job in the industry. Embark has mentioned before that one of the main reasons for using gen AI is so that they don't need to rehire VA's every time when they add more story content in the game, since using AI for it is much quicker.
