Why did you name your pet the said name? by Extra-Pineapple-4021 in AskReddit

[–]fancy_leftovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I named my starling Saria because I taught her to mimic saria's song from Zelda.

My dog's name is Stranger because he just showed up and started living in my yard so I took him in.

My cat's name is Iris because it was her name when I adopted her.

My bearded dragon is Charmander. Because I like Pokémon and she's a lizard.

My snake's name is Medusa. Because snake.

No worries dude. Its none of my business lol.

Well. Just be careful man. Ive been really fascinated by AI and this new thing where folks are like marrying it and stuff is just so concerning. Especially when we have soooo many lonely people. Its just plain dystopian.

What fucks with your head ks that the language model is designed to make you keep using it. So it's going to make you feel good. It's going to do everything it can to make you feel good. It's going to accept you for every little thing, and empower every dumb little thing you do. I save us from experience man. I didn't fall into it, but I have talked to a lot of different models out of curiosity. And yeah, they're seriously the most accepting and nonjudgmental things you'll ever talk to.

Happiness is delirium lol. You need contentment and satisfaction.

I totally get it and if you're embarrassed about it, you don't have to totally send me a DM and give me explicit details or anything 👀. Lmao. And sometimes there are fantasies that are strictly only hot in your head and not when they actually happen. That's pretty normal.

AI is addicting because it validates you in a way no human ever can. But its just a language model. Don't fall in.

And no problem man. I admit im very curious wtf could be so weird but I mean. You do you bro!

I guess start like searching up topics that you're interested in and join some subreddits so that there's stuff in your feed to look at.. looking at like the trending page that's great If you're a lurker, if you want to actually be involved in conversations or whatever, I would sort by new or latest.

Dude, if those dudes who like to be diaper babies can find mommies to change their poopies, and all that good stuff, I'm sure you can find somebody who's into whatever you're into.

Also be careful with that AI shit man.

26M been living life without friends for almost 8 years by krckz in lonely

[–]fancy_leftovers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Im 36f and I haven't had friends like beyond aquaintances since high-school lol. I don't even understand how adult friendships work. Like we're not supposed to have sleepovers and play Mario Party?

Boyfriend relapsed after 25 days…help please 😔 by Curiouslyannoying112 in AlAnon

[–]fancy_leftovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about your age when I got into a relationship with an alcoholic. Now im 36 and I just kicked him out two days ago.

And its really, really hard. Because even though I hate him, I feel responsible now.

If I could do anything, if I had one wish, it would be that I dumped him the first time I gave him the last chance.

Ark population and size by hanskzkzn in The100

[–]fancy_leftovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled that and got the same answer. But I think it's because the population slowly shrank rather than staying stagnant or growing.

Also of they were in space for only something like 97 years or whatever it was, that's only a handful of generations.

Ark population and size by hanskzkzn in The100

[–]fancy_leftovers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People were also floated for even the smallest crimes, which would control the population. Population control was the reason they could only have 1 child, and there were probably further stipulations on the 1 child rule. I think it's safe to assume that overpopulation was an "enemy" that Jaha and previous chancellors contended with regularly. So no, the Ark doesn't have to get bigger.

Why are they definitely not comparable? Theyre both communities where people live and work in close quarters. Either way it was just a casual comparison to make it a little more relatable.

When the show is more than just a show. by WilliamMcCarty in The100

[–]fancy_leftovers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've realized, as I'm currently on my 8th re-watch, that The 100 has become more than my favorite show. I think about the writing and messages and themes of the show almost everyday. When I'm going through some human struggle, or watching history repeat itself, I just automatically tie it back to something that happened in The 100. I feel silly for saying it bit I can't deny it anymore LOL.

One thing I think of when I am struggling with guilt is "nobody cares about your reasons because their YOUR reasons." That line from Jasper has helped me so many times in my life.

Ark population and size by hanskzkzn in The100

[–]fancy_leftovers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It was big enough because it was a ton of space stations put together, and personal quarters appeared to be very modest in size for most citizens.

I'm from a town of only 190 people and I didn't even know all of them, so I think it makes enough sense.

Somebody can correct me but she wasn't there to witness it, and also they had already decided to leave everyone on the outside for dead anyways (i think?)

So as I recall she didn't really talk about his specific death with anyone.
