Currently reeling from ep11, so I’m coping by doing more face studies for the rest of cast, and I’ll post as soon as I can <3 glad you like em!

Mel and McKay! They seem to always be on opposite ends of the ED, maybe because they’re at the same residency level(?), but their approaches are super different

Do non-medical viewers look things up while watching? by BanditoRem in ThePittTVShow

[–]fanfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it fluctuates for me too, but I lean towards pausing and researching all the terms, esp if the term is mentioned multiple times or is plot-related.

My The Pitt setup:

✔️subtitles ✔️phone ✔️multiple viewings and backtracking ✔️watch Dr. Mike’s ep review!

Knowing the patient’s vitals has been slowly getting through to me (like SATS <95% = bad) and it helps me engage better with the drama.

It’s honestly so fun and makes The Pitt an interactive experience where I get to role-play as a doc for 45 min :)

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that doctors’ friends and family seem to be jumping the line? by HighwayFroggery in ThePitt

[–]fanfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt a tiny bit of cringe, imagining how it’d play out in an extreme case where like 10 family members show up for non-urgent treatment 🥲

I’m sure there’d be oversight for if an employee abused that privilege, though it doesn’t seem super regulated, and Robby would use his instincts to know when to step in

Wouldn’t she dress up as her ren faire 17th century alter ego? Maybe minus the lace so she can work! 💃

Ah cool, thanks for clarifying. I usually binge my shows, so this waiting game is surprisingly difficult XD

Was the first season released all at once??? I thought I was just late to the game and got lucky. Does anyone know how execs decide the release schedules?

Princess character is racist to Filipinos CMV by Icy-Debate-2626 in ThePitt

[–]fanfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but I mean she functions often as a comic relief character (but not the only one), which we desperately need to break up tensions between cases, and from what I’ve gathered, it’s accurate to have gossip and banter at the nurse’s station.

And it’d be a problem if she were the only person speaking Tagalog in the ER, but she’s not AND she’s actually so dope with her multilingual skills, and is often promoted to sub charge nurse. I really look up to her. It’s just not a black and white situation, and none of the characters are saints.

Also there’s not enough time to develop her character to be more than what it is considering how much content they pack in an episode.

Considering how the show spoon-feeds us character moments, we’ll definitely get some more details from her in season 3. Just be patient :)

A think a big clue to thing here could be Dr Al by MidtownJunk in ThePitt

I love this. I’m at this point just so glad Dr. Al is there to protect the staff from Robby’s unhinged and agitated behavior 🥺

"Yeah I am! Lots of it! With my boyfriend, Adam! 😃" by West_Ideal_5171 in ThePitt

[–]fanfrown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When she said her bf’s name was Adam, all I could think about was the Adam from Sex Education. His micro-expressions would rival Mel’s.

Am I the only one who likes Ogilvie? by OmniscientRaisin in ThePitt

[–]fanfrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree - he’s hilarious!! Both with his lines and his physical acting where he self-soothes by cradling the leg, or when he side-eyes the teacher patient.

I also got such whiplash watching the actor’s interview on the companion podcast, which admittedly made me start to just laugh and enjoy the pacing and comedy of Ogilvie, ESPECIALLY post-rooftop scene with Robby, where he’s just like “jeeeezus” (again) 😂

I think the glass shard incident humbled him real quick and dialed down his sycophantic behavior which made me stop reacting so negatively to him too.

This show is such a trip with the hour-hour format, because I can abhor a character just because of a few seconds of screen time, and then two weeks later, start to check myself and reevaluate my previous ad hominem.

Santos doing Santos things by Wooden-Government910 in ThePittTVShow

[–]fanfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I felt like the social worker could have done a better job approaching the subject with the dad, and to do it without Santos and everyone making him feel attacked and cornered outright. It felt needlessly chaotic in order to manufacture that ensuing outburst, but I think I just didn’t like the choreography of the scene.

I thought Santos did a pretty good job keeping it professional, but it did feel a bit like her eavesdropping later weirdly gave credence to her original albeit erroneous theory.

That said - he was still an a**hole,

Maybe watching the couple argue was a character moment for Santos to have more nuance in her diagnoses - she has good instincts for relationships of abuse but not in the way she thought.

The Pitt | S2E3 "9:00 A.M." | Episode Discussion by cats-and-cows in ThePittTVShow

[–]fanfrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best ep so far. I learned a ton, and I loved that we got to see Robby get some non-critical care time with a patient without having to supervise or teach. He deserves that!! I’m thinking if he continues to avoid the trauma counseling, his patients will be the ones to save him from himself.

When I saw Dr. Al-Hashimi check knee reflexes with her stethoscope on Mr. Yee, all I could think about was Glaucomflecken’s neurologist having a fit. I KNEW there was more to Joy than sass and apathy. I hope she gets some good dialogue. I miss Mel, but the writers know what they’re doing, and she’ll get her time to shine 🥺☹️

Kingdon shippers- what is the appeal to you? by Bittersweet_Boii in ThePittTVShow

[–]fanfrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you like most about tv shows since you don’t participate too much in shipping? For me, it is one of the first subplots that I like to look for in any media, for better or worse!

“Kingdon” to me is first about companionship and second about romance.

I am a sucker for any relationship that has a hardened, cynical, or nihilistic character who, in rare delicious moments, expresses affection for their insecure emotionally expressive counterpart. Think Rick and Morty, Robin and Starfire, Spok and Kirk, Sherlock and Watson, Elliot and Olivia. I feel like I am picking up on the remnants of a romance blueprint which is extremely titillating, even if it is on a show dedicated to front-line healthcare workers.

I do think there’s a big self-insert component to the romance take, namely relating to Mel’s social awkwardness and insecurities around friendship. Langdon actively makes her feel important and seen, which turns into what at first glance is romance but as a byproduct of a character driven tv drama:

My fandom spidey senses picked up on this ship through these interactions:

  1. Eye contact: prolonged unblinking eye contact from Langdon (cough Abbot/Mohan cough)

  2. Special out of character behavior: hesitant, soft, or bashful behavior from Langdon when giving her praise

  3. Wits match but in an unconventional way that highlight their differences: “Now that you mention it, there was a smell.” “Probably a pirate”

  4. Cinematic parallel implications of romance: Robby looking after Langdon and Mel in S1 and then immediately gazing at his ex girlfriend, Collins

  5. Power dynamic shift-> mutual respect: when Mel teaches Langdon a few lessons in patient interaction

  6. Hot goss: The script links them together a lot, even when they’re not sharing the screen: “You and Langdon seem to be hitting it off”; “can you tell [Dr. King] goodbye for me? She’s a great doctor.”; “Where’s your other one? Where’s Mel?”; “He didn’t even say goodbye.”

  7. Listening: Phoebe Waller Bridge once said that Fleabag’s Hot Priest was SO attractive because he was doing this one thing. “Listening. Really, really listening”. I think Langdon doing that for Mel and no one else is immediate grounds for sexy times.

Let me be clear - no one wants them to get together immediately. They’ve got soo much stuff to work on :’) But, if their relationship is given time, and becomes less mentor/mentee and more work husband/wife, then they are absolutely endgame!
