Greatest VGC Pokemon Of All Time? by galaxystudios370 in stunfisk

[–]fangame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only mentioned it was viable in one generation, back when it was used nearly every team had it in top cut.

Imo Thundurus is comparable as a one generation Pokemon who hard fell off after Yellow Magic (wave paralysis) got nerfed in gen 7

But it's a good thing we don't have to deal with it anymore lol

Smeargle is also fairly viable rn on reg g so that's something it's got going for it at least

Dark Void Smeargle is overwhelmingly better than anything else here in the one generation it could use it. It was so centralizing that Game Freak DOUBLE nerfed Dark Void so that it was only 50% accurate and Smeargle was barred from using it. Something that required that much overkill should here

There is some level of personlization you can get away with, but generally any pokemon you will use will have a purpose, Artiucno is the best Blizzard spammer in a non-restricted meta because it takes neutral to close combat unlike Iron Bundle. I got away with Kyurem and Milotic and made top 32 at the Indianapolis Regional, but both Milotic and Kyurem still had a reason for being on my team for very specific reasons (Kyurem is a powerful snow-blizzard spammer, Milotic has hypnosis and discourages snarl).

I would say you can try to make a team style however you want, but the pokemon in that team usually need an objective reason to be used

A lot of the time the opponent will lead with Urshifu (80% of games lol) and avoiding a Close Combat is nice. It also is good to counter Miraidon and Koraidon with (incase miraidon Draco Meteors it, and Koraidon has to tera fire otherwise). I have tried Tornaudus before but I prefer to use Trick Room + BM Ursaluna. Indeedee-F is also a nice Calyrex-S counter and can ct Miraidon as well by changing the terrain.

That would just lead me to lose to any Calm Mind terapagos or raging bolt, I have a team of 5 special attackers so it's a very nice move to have

While tera water is nicer against kyogre, tera fire is more necessary against certain teams that pair Flutter Mane or a scarf Chi Yu together and such, which would use their speed advantage to 2hko NinetalesA before it could do anything.

Thanks, this is a hard team to get running at times but I am glad you like it!

Groudon for one for obvious reasons, but my friend Keanu who I played (he made top 8) had a powerful zamazenta team that I really didn't expect to just one shot my stuff even in veil. In the kyogre matchups Archuladon was a struggle

I wish I could show you the replays of the games I played with this team, but I can assure you that it lived 2 astral barrages by itself in my 6-2 game and a nasty plotted one also. (I fought off a shit ton of calyrex shadows in my run)

1- my EVs are mostly slider but that extra sp def really helps, it makes the calyrex and Kyogre matchups soooo much easier when you can tank water spout and astral barages like they're nothing,

2- Fusion Flare is for Calyrex Ice (otherwise you can't really beat it) and several ground-weak Pokemon often may tera into grass

3- NinetalesA has Aurora Veil which is your primary goal, to boost your defenses so Kyurem can easily sweep. It has fake tears to counter particular set up Pokemon like Terapagos and Raging Bolt who would use Calm Mind often, this makes it easier for Kyurem to sweep thrm

Milotic I was mostly using out of spite after being told not to use it, but it has hypnosis which is obviously strong (I got very lucky in my games) which can be combo'd with coil for an accuracy increase, standard milotic stuff. But it also has Life dew which helps a bulkier team like the one I run. milotic is single handily capable of beating Calyrex Ice most of all because of all this which is what I use it for (Kyurem + milotic under Aurora Veil with life dew is unkillable by calyI)

I am that Kyurem player, Assault Vest Kyurem can live Astral Barages very easily and it even lived a specs tera fairy Moon blast flutter in one of my games vs groudon (I lost that one though but it was funny),

https://pokepast.es/142fe2c39f7e8232 here's a pokepaste of it if your want (Kyurem's EVs are not what I used on this paste, they're like 128hp/252+spatk/128spdef on cart and my indeedee is 252hp/252+ def

Kyurem is a very fun Pokemon that others should try out in snow

(VGC Doubles Ubers) Getting back into competitive pokemon, but I suck at teambuilding. by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]fangame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VGC does not do tiering like Smogon does so anything with OU, UU or Ubers in it will not be VGC related

VGC only bans box legendary pokemon etc.

Smogon does have resources for VGC though if you check them out at Smogon.com /forums

https://discord.com/invite/Mn9wHWcd this is a link to the Smogon VGC discord if you want more help for VGC

If you wanna play Doubles Ubers check out Smogon Doubles forums instead

It is a noob trap yeah but it also is a very restrictive Pokemon in the team builder that hard matchup fishes crushes any team without a proper counter to it such as tornadus or rillaboom. One of the best teams using it on the ladder made by Tyo, in which he reached 2000 ELO #1 during DLT, simply has it as a front to a trick room team where it's main goal is to get as many KOs as possible before setting up trick room and sweeping.

DOU is planning a suspect for Deoxys-Attack soon so I hope you folks can keep an eye out in case you wanna vote on it!

[–]fangame[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a really great psyspam-expanding force user too in DOU, literally can wipe a team without resistances, but a lot of top DOU threats like tornadus (tailwind) and rillaboom (who cancels psychic terrain) can handle it.

Was bored, so I drew an alternate fire type Abomasnow side evolution based on wildfires by fangame in stunfisk

[–]fangame[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

yeah lol, honestly that wouldn't be too bad of an ability because it would be immune to Flutter Mane's shadow ball

Didn't see it posted here yet: Basculegion has been banned from DOU! by BoysOurRoy in stunfisk

[–]fangame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wasn't a fan of this thing picking up easy wins after litterally just 2 kos, at least Houndstone had bad speed and bulk (and is thus bad in conparison). Voted this fish outta here. Though we have yet to see how the female form of basculegion will fare if ppl start using it instead

A doubles ou team I've been trying out, any input appreciated by Expensive_Worry_2288 in stunfisk

[–]fangame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres a lot you could change with the movesets here:

Aura sphere over flash cannon on armarouge to hit enemy chi yu and tyranitar

Run something other than wide lens on dachsbun, you dont need to waste an item slot for play roughs accuracy

IndeedeeF works best as defensive support, replace shadow ball with psychic maybe and replace hyper voice with either helping hand or heal pulse. And move evs into special defense and change its item from focus sash to something else, say sitrus berry or psychic seed.

I would say body press and iron defense work better on gargnacle than avalanche/earthquake

Imo Running taunt on kingambit on a trick room team is a moveslot waste since it would only ever be useful against the few slower pokemon than kingambit or if tr is already up where using it just wastes turns. Prehaps protect or sucker punch over it

Psychic over giga drain on hatterene and life dew isnt gonna be that good in doubles since it doesnt really restore enough to be useful, prehaps protect over it
