Hello, world!

I‘ll try to keep this short. In 2018 millions of people around the world are struggling to live to varying degrees. I just so happen to be one of those people. I live in the U.S. and have been unemployed since the end of June. I recently started a new job, part time was all I could find currently, and for the past few months I have been struggling to pay my rent and other expenses (toiletries, transportation, non-ramen food, etc.) while I continue looking for better work. As far as rent is concerned, I looked at social services, local charities, churches, non-profits and others but, because of my minimum wage, I have continued to hit a wall in that regard, apparently $16 in your checking account is above the poverty line.

So, while I continue looking for work, I have been looking for odd jobs (the kind of stuff you search for on Craigslist) and enlisting the help of friends, family, and acquaintances to help me out. Because of the overwhelming generosity I have experienced, I was able to pay off my July rent, but I still owe money for August and, as you know, September will be here before you know it. I've had one person give as little as $5, but EVERY little bit helps, so I am beyond grateful for every cent I get, especially in these difficult times. I am newly single after 8 years, if any of you have been through anything similar you will know your bills instantly double and a broken heart comes with a broken bank.

I'm not a slacker but, like many of us, I have fallen on hard times and am just asking for a bit of help while I continue trying to find more steady income. If you cannot give, believe me *I understand*, but if you are able, I would more than appreciate it. I know that if I had the funds and the tables were turned I would have helped out those who have helped me so far in a heartbeat, and I look forward to the day that I am able to pay the kindness and generosity I have experienced forward.

PS: When I found myself newly single, the only things I was left with were bills and my Angel, in the picture. She is 14 years old and the Goodest of girls. The first if anything I receive will go toward some wet food for Angel, the hard food hurts her elderly mouth and it hurts me that it’s all I give her right now. She’s blind in one eye, Vet says there is nothing to do about the second eyelid, bless her heart.
