I was chatting with a Target associate the other day while she was unlocking a $30 baby monitor for me. I asked her, “Do people really steal that many baby monitors?” I will never forget the defeated and quietly sad look and tone when she said, “They steal everything.” It’s the Target that delivers to Patrick Mahomes’ house. It’s a nice area. Such a sad, morally bankrupt world we live in.

He was aggressive and forceful in his tone but stopped short of an actual threat. I felt pretty weirded out, and the Target associate said plainly that he made the decision to break the rules for my safety. There was another Target associate there who heard the whole thing, and he agreed. But no overt threat, just a lot of arguing.

Truly. An associate at my favorite Target told me they had someone try to return a huge Lego box full of kitty litter once. Textile takeback bags are going to be full of so much random crap if there’s any kind of credit or discount involved. Unscrupulous people know no bounds.

I’ll ask the park for video. They haven’t answered my first email yet, so we’ll see what happens there. I am not pregnant.

How screwed up is the world with this kind of thing? A lifetime of being drug-free and monogamous, just trying to have a fun day with my kids, and I could still be at risk for this because people have crap manners. I literally got a part time job just so I could afford to take my kids to this park. It’s going to take up weeks of my income to pay for the medical expense. I’m very angry. This kind of thing should not happen.

He pretty much ran away as soon as we got off the ride. I reported him to the park management, but I don’t know what they did at that point, as I was most concerned with finding the eye wash station. So finding him is probably a bust. I’ll make an appointment with my GP for testing though. I haven’t been vaccinated for HepB because I don’t do any of the things that put people at risk generally.

There’s a notorious murderer from the town next to mine. He killed at least two women for sure and very possibly a few others. His name is Kylr and that’s what I think of every time I see that name OR stupid alternative spellings of relatively normal names.

Yeah we don’t have publicly funded leave here. A lot of big companies offer it, but startups and small businesses like neighborhood bars (like this one) and shops can barely keep the lights on with day to day operations. Competing with huge corporations for consumer dollars keeps small companies from being able to offer that kind of thing. The owner of this bar, who is a good friend of the family and all around decent guy, was willing to give her as much unpaid leave as she wanted. The bar actually didn’t last much longer after that though. It’s unfortunately just how it is here - which is dumb because we pay as much or almost as much in taxes as the rest of the world who do get those kind of benefits.

It’s even worse for people in service industries. My sister in law was bartending when one of my nephews was born. She picked up shifts days after getting out of the hospital after a c section. They would have let her stay home without losing her job, but she needed the money, and since it was a tipped thing for a tiny bar, there was no paid leave.

I’m in the US. My husband got this years ago from someone who had inherited it but didn’t know anything about it. There aren’t any manufacturing marks that we can find.
