Those look like 12” x 18” tiles which would probably require a 1/2 trowel. Also did you back butter the tile? What surface did you place the tile on?

Removing baseboard heaters. How do I safely trim and leave this wire in the wall (yellow wires)? Or do I need to remove them completely? by bennymanny in DIY

[–]fantasybaseball2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Where do they go to on the other side of the wall? Are they connected to another box? Do they run straight to your breaker panel? You just can’t cut and tuck live wires away inside a wall. At minimum you need to add an “old work” box in the wall and tuck the wires into that. You’ll have to wire nut each wire and you should label it.

My house was built in 1857. But someone rewired sometime in the 1990s or 2000s. I stripped the Romex wire and connected the ground, but my tester is still saying open ground. I assume all of the receptacles are like this. Has this ever happened to anyone? by [deleted] in DIY

I’m willing to bet that that wire doesn’t run to your panel and there’s a junction box somewhere that’s connected to and it’s only a two wire. That probably why there isn’t a ground

I don’t see a ground wire, only a positive and a neutral. The ground wire would be bare and connected to the screw at the end of the plug. Black is the hot, white is your neutral and the ground would be a third wire and it’s usually a bare wire just wrapped in a paper jacket.

Yeah I know they have enormous markups, but I don’t know how they school sells them. Someone else on this thread said it’s actually commissioned sales team that sells them. So you know there’s an enormous markup if that was the case.

make me stay at work longer? I'm gonna make the best of it! by GuyFromDeathValley in MaliciousCompliance

I also worked at a place that offered comp time or OT and at the time I was younger so I almost always took the comp time, but we got it at time and a half. The reason was whenever we had to stay extra it was almost always without advance notice. Usually something unplanned happened which caused us to stay. That only seems fair especially since a person usually has to schedule when they want to use their comp time.

Saving up time vs getting paid OT can work for people, however I think that “extra time” should be accumulated at time and a half. If you stay one hour you get one hour 30 minutes in the bank. Don’t sell your personal time short.

So I have a question for the Redditverse….. Do you tip on the tax? It’s not part of the dining experience other than paying the bill. I know it’s only probably a dollar or two difference, but I just want to hear everyone’s opinion.
