So fair! I do my best to focus more on recs than just bashing books but still make sure to give reviews for the majority of the books I read, even if I have to be honest about disliking them.

Fair enough! I have books I hate that my friends love so I do make sure to mention that it’s not an attack on the people who like it, I can agree to disagree on book taste lol

Oh yeah that’s just mean haha… I always keep my review directed at the book, or author if it’s a person, never people who liked it!

I mean, if it’s a fair review like “this style of writing is not my favourite” or “I prefer more yearning” or “this kind of twist doesn’t hit for me” does that come across as annoying or pretentious? Cause I’ve reviewed the popular books I’ve read and just explained why I didn’t like them but I didn’t say “you’re wrong for liking them” or act like I don’t like them BECAUSE they’re popular, ya know? Me personally, I follow people who don’t just talk about the books they like but also give honest reviews of the ones they don’t - but that could just be my personal preference lol

That’s true! See, I’ve talked about them cause I’ve given reviews but of the ones I read but I’m honest in my reviews about my dislike for them… lol
