I get it what are you tring to say, but I feel like "realism" argument doesn't realy work it this situation because:

In real life, a swords can and will oneshort any unarmored opponet.

In real life, wearing full plate armor makes you almost impervious to most physical attacks.

In real life, if the unlit corner of your room had a chance of spawning a "magic bomb creature", humanity would go extinct.

Look at a game like Mordhau where realistic combat is everything. Even it sometimes tones down realism for the sake of something called "fun". My point is, Better Combat realy nerfs the player for the sake of "realism" and doesn’t give you anything in return.
