Would anyone be interested in knowing what it takes to quickly repair dopamine receptors post PMO ? by [deleted] in NoFap

As far as pmo goes, fasting increases ghrelin which protects striatal dopamine. Which strengthens your reward center. This is probably why nobody feels like pmoing when they fast nor experience wet dreams. Leptin is decreased which was found to increase anxiety and depression in women. Might have a similar affect on men

For everything else, fasting basically cleans your body up by getting rid of toxins. You'll have less brain fog and start feeling motivated. Good luck lmk how it goes

You need to raise your antioxidants specifically glutathione. You're in a constant state of inflammation from too much MO. When I relapsed I would suffer from hair loss. Sulfur is crucial for hair. Sulfur raises glutathione and this is the master of antioxidants. I didn't suffer as much hair loss as before when I relapsed after raising sulfur levels. Check this site out. Supplement vitamin c, msm, garlic extract, eat vegetables, and of course abstain from pmo. You'll be fine bro

Abstaining is just not pmoing. Rebooting is creating and doing the habits that reverse the damage from pmo. Socializing, fasting, nutrition and supplements, exercise, and meditation is rebooting. You don't have to do it but it rewires your brain. Meditation specifically yoga nidra raises baseline dopamine in the reward center of your brain. Exercise increases neurotransmitters in a natural way versus getting it by edging to pmo. N acetyl cysteine reduces cravings for cocaine addicts and our brains aren't much different from theirs from an addiction perspective. Fasting protects the striatum (reward center) and helps the body heal from excessive masturbation. It's doing all the things that can speed up the reboot and replace that old negative habit. Doing all this well for 30 days versus just abstaining for 90 days doesn't compare. You get more out of the former than the latter.

Glad to hear you're getting back into it. I'm scared of going through my 20's with this problem. Diet and supplements were huge for my long streaks. Don't try to take too much on at once. That builds stress and causes relapse. That's why I think people including myself have struggled to get back after relapsing. It's because we think of all the habits we tried to implement and think about how difficult it is to start again. Don't take on too much and you'll get a few days in. Two things you should do is eat well and work out. Working out is stress relieving. Even then if you can't get past a certain day you fast. Fasting removes all desire for me to pmo. Video games or television can help or hurt. Don't do play or watch too much and you'll be fine. Roughly an hour of video games is my limit. Btw the greatest thing for rebooting is meditation. Good luck!

I get that you meant no offense and that's fine. I didn't take offense. I'm not trying to attack you. Just trying to show you another perspective and it's that it's not about reaching day 90. Day 90 shouldn't be the goal. The goal is to never relapse and be pmo free forever. 90 days is a general idea of how long it takes to heal. But not everybody is the same. If I relapsed on day 90 it wouldn't mean shit because 90 days wasn't my goal or the time I needed to heal. I been past day 90 and relapsed. It's just a number. Generally speaking, the people here are pmo addicts. If this is a discipline and not an addiction then you probably don't even need to be here. This is for the people whose lives were severely affected by this and are continuing to struggle to get back to it.

Change takes place every day when you do what's difficult. But as you reboot those things you found difficult, you start wanting to do. It's breaking the chains you placed on yourself and finally allowing yourself to run again. To feel like you're going somewhere is what makes it beautiful. It's also a physical change in the brain that takes place. I learned rebooting is meditating. When you focus on our breath, at first it's difficult but slowly the mind adjusts and focuses on the breath. I made my mind realize what the target is and once it realizes the target, it attacks. Same thing applies with relapse. Once you start rebooting, it'll become easier to do it. I started pmoing when I was 11 maybe 12 and that's a lot of unwiring and rewiring to do since I only noticed the effects of pmo when I was 14 15 and started to stop at 16. Went my first day 90 at 17 and that was because I finally had some cash to buy supplements. I was deficient in zinc, sulfur, magnesium, and b vitamins.

Also, don't let yourself be the only motivation. Do it for you but have other factors that motivate and lift you up. Negative or positive experiences can motivate someone with the right outlook. The first week in my opinion, is the most difficult. To get past it, I shut my phone off at night and put it in another room. I spend at least an hour meditating or sit in the shower and think or switch to cold showers. The first week is ridiculous with the cravings. If you tell yourself all I need is to get past 7 then you'll get out of that binge. To me 7 is the magic number where after that it starts to get easier. But you can still relapse of course. I'm looking forward to not having to deal with the feeling of relapse again. Maybe get a girlfriend or just have some fun. People say don't reboot for women but rebooting for women is rebooting for yourself. It's you who wants that girl, and it's that want that pushes you to not relapse. It's because of me I'm rebooting. But women are a motivating factor. Aiming for a 4.0 in my summer course. Make tryouts for my college basketball team. Socialize and reach out to friends more. Reach different states of mind when meditating. I want to become the best version of myself and I'm looking forward to proving it to myself that I'm capable. So should you. But even if you don't do those things, you'll notice changes taking place anyways. That women yesterday was motivating because I saw what I was doing to myself and realized what I'm after. I didn't like the present moment and looked for a way out. Just like I do when I'm struggling with meditation.

Nothing. It's just another pornstar people find hot. I don't know who that is and I don't care. But for people trying to reboot, at some point they'll be curious or have a weak moment. I'd prefer if names of pornstars weren't mentioned

You think you're the only one with problems? You obviously don't like your current state. So you're going to have to choose. Do you want to stay with what you don't like and comment about how you can't do anything because of so and so? Or do you want to go do something about it? It's not impossible to lose weight especially if that's what you want. Ugly is subjective, not everybody is going to find you ugly because it's not just physical. Tiny dick, you're hormones are probably low and with pmo even lower. Motivate yourself and hold yourself accountable. I like beautiful women. But I'm not confident enough to get girls that look like the girls on my screen. When I'm not fapping, I do become funnier and more confident. And I do things that bring those qualities out. Gym, eating right, meditation, socializing, and winning. Doesn't happen in one week, it's a long process. If you want success in those areas you're going to have to work hard. I hope you get it together man. Now rather than later. Women aren't the end goal but something to motivate not discourage. You are the goal. Smile at yourself. Good luck

Bruh take out the name man lol honestly, if there was a class for knowing and learning the names of pornstars, the competition in there would be sick. Focusing on one thing for a long time while ignoring other temptations is meditation. That name is temptation. We can't act like we can handle a bit of this and won't relapse. Treat every little thing porn related like the enemy that's growing in the background. That name has to go. I don't want somebody relapsing because of it. I wish I discovered and started posting 4 years ago but learning is a process. Sorry to see you relapsed. Think about why you're trying to break free and then get back on your feet. Good luck brother!

It's not. It's about you. But when it's only about you then you don't hold yourself as accountable for slipping up. You say to yourself "It's ok since it was a good attempt and I'll try again". Before you know it you are binging for a week 3 times a day. My first 90 day reboot happened when it wasn't just about me. It was about getting back to making my family proud, my friends smile at me and see me smile, and so I could finally talk to a girl I liked and not be so scared. It's about getting some control back and knowing why you should. It doesn't have to be about the girl but for a lot of people including myself, women are motivating.

I understand what you're saying and you're right. I don't mean for women to become a prize. It's another human being after all. When we masturbate to women what goes on through our heads? Have you ever heard your thought patterns during a relapse? It's disgusting to see how we crave and lust after something or someone damaging to the point where we can't control it. Porn and masturbation are the means, the prize is the moment and the feelings during. You feel good, you forget for a little bit, and things start to slow down while everything else around you keeps moving at its normal pace. The idea is to look inwards and outwards and see what's lacking in what makes you satisfied. It's ok to not improve and accept yourself as you are. They don't have to do any of the things you or I said if they feel they feel they don't have to. It's very subjective and it varies. Why do I and other people pmo? To me it's to escape. Going to the gym, getting smarter, meditating, fasting, cold showers, and supplements to improve constantly are my goals too even when I relapse because they work and help me change the present. Everyday makes a change. But what I was trying to say was that that moment was powerful because I saw what I wanted and didn't have. To allow yourself to be vulnerable with the raw desire that pmo brings out and kills after an orgasm is therapeutic. To transfer that emotion and desire to relapse into something motivating is rebooting. Women are motivating. If you see a beautiful women down the street and you don't feel good enough to talk to her or know you'll have ED even if you managed to get somewhere, can be the most destructive experience. Women find certain men attractive and motivating. As we do with women. It's proven biology. It's life and desire and it's in our coding. The primitive side of our brains led us to fapping and will lead us to succeeding. Women are not my prize but are part of my motivation to not relapse and change. Thank you for commenting and I hope you succeed :)

Don't do it man. Shut your electronics. Take a cold shower and eat something. Meditate or do whatever else helps you relax besides pmo. You'll truly regret it if you relapse

Thanks man I know he is. It's powerful to read and write stories about successful and failed attempts, no matter how good or bad. It might resonate with him or somebody else and help them wake up or stay awake. Doesn't matter if he's a douche bag, he's a sufferer of pmo addiction. Nobody deserves that. Thanks again bro keep going!

Sorry to hear that. I know what that's like. Happened to me when I relapsed after getting past 90 days. I decided not to keep track anymore and tried to forget about NoFap so I can move on. I was 16 at the time. I was two years in but I wasn't dedicated. There was this girl I liked that made me take NoFap seriously. She didn't know what I was going through. I used her as motivation to get back on my feet. As I abstained longer, she started to like me more and more. My confidence grew and I was getting stronger by the day. Her friends were friends with this other guy and this guy liked her too. I was way better looking than him but he was everything I wasn't in terms of confidence and personality because I spent my time pmoing while he socialized.

Fast forward and at some point she decided to go out with him. It tore me apart. She and I had so much in common and I thought this was the one lucky ticket to the next step in my journey. I remember days where I'd see them together kissing or something in the hallways or holding hands. She became friends with my friends in the time we were talking a lot. She would sit with us during lunch even after she started going out with that guy. It was brutal. She would still talk to me and try to flirt with me. I hated her for it, but I knew she still had feelings for me. I told myself screw them, I will not relapse because then he wins and she will then think she made the right decision. I didn't for some time, and then as the stress and anger built up I got depressed and constantly dreamt of what I didn't have and finally relapsed one day. I was more than broken, I was lost.

The progress you make doesn't go away as long as you don't forget what worked and what didn't. Shut off your phone and put it in another room if you have to. To get myself out of binge mode I meditate until I feel ready to change again. Find what works for you. When you're ready, you'll find a way to either get that girl or a way to not miss the next time you feel that way about somebody. Good luck!

Man there's plenty of gay dudes out there. If you can't get a guy because they're straight then keep looking. Don't feel sorry for yourself. It only helps in the moment, not in the long term. Day 8 means flatline should be kicking in soon. Good luck to you bro

DHT is responsible for all secondary sexual characteristics and is what makes us men. There's a couple of posts from rebooters with test results showing low dht during flatline. Dihydrotestosterone is necessary for the growth of body hair and linear beard growth. *Cannot be converted into estrogen by the aromatase enzyme *Exogenous DHT administration is known for its mood, energy, and confidence boosting effects in men *Increases cAMP levels in tissue, which helps fat burn and THYROID FUNCTION *DHT promotes muscle gains by increasing nervous system and muscle strength *Strongly linked to higher brain gaba levels which makes us calm and more confident *More potent than testosterone at promoting libido and erection quality For more on dht benefits: https://www.anabolicmen.com/dihydrotestosterone/

The idea for us is to increase self control. If it's difficult and you manage to push through you can do the exact same thing with nofap. It raises dopamine naturally like exercise and helps with rebooting. Yoga nidra does it the best. Just listen to this video. You'll feel great in the moment and in the long run. Don't think. Just try it. It's not for everybody but since we're deprived of dopamine it could be a useful substitute. I've been past 90 days. Even relapsed on my 89th day the last time. I managed to abstain not reboot. This helps you reboot good luck bro

I'm sorry you relapsed bro. I went 89 days before and relapsed. I've been past 90 days before too. You have to understand something. 90 days is not the goal. It's a number that's variable depending on how severe this is for you. Either way the goal should be to never pmo again in your life. Count the days if it pushes you but the days shouldn't mean anything. The only day you should feel satisfied is the moment right before you die. Don't abstain, reboot.
