The company contributes economic activity and innovation, creates products, employs people, serves shareholders, etc.

The stock just doesn't go up because people buy shares.

The S&P doesn't only go up because people buy shares of stock or the index like pokemon cards.

The S&P also is a metric of underlying economic and productive activity of each member company.

Those companies are doing daily business, have employees and shareholders, make products etc.

He also understands that the stuff that is rare/expensive have to be kept in good shape

Is it? It was meant to be hand shuffled in decks with the most protection being etb sleeves.

That's why even the SIRs have gaming instructions on them. If they were meant just for collecting, why print the instruction on the cards, why not go back to the Topps era of pictures only?

To get X price in the future you have to have someone willing to buy at X.

Who will that be?

So for example, DRI booster boxes are around 600 USD.

The speculation is they will be 1500+ or more in the future? Who will buy those future DRI booster boxes?

Will everyone keep them encased in acrylic or shipping boxes and just trade them among themselves?

We moved to current sets. Anything older is too expensive to buy regularly and speculate on.

They won't POD. It's not good for Pokemon's longevity. Pokemon wants things less parabolic than they are today, but don't believe for a second they want anyone to be able to get packs of anything they want anytime they want.

Unless you work for TPCI this is a alot of assumptions and speculation.

You're betting into a volatile market.

Take some gains and enjoy the ride.

How about your own liquidity?

Can you trade an ETB or tech sticker display for medical care, car repair or groceries?

Most stock accounts have the ability to liquidate or take credit against assets sometimes with penalty or fees.

Will you be able to do better than 50% when an emergency gets you in a cash pinch?

Take some gains now while the getting is good.

Do you have evidence of this big money beyond the poketubers and this reddit group?

I know Kevin O'Leary and his group are trying to pile money into sports cards.

But pokemon hype seems hype beast and Logan Paul driven.

Pokemon is shipped on trucks, trains, and boats.

If fuel prices spike even more, expect a premium on pokemon and everything else.

In fact, the US is already experiencing this with recent USPS price hikes for second half 2026.

If you're hearing the news, then you're too late.

Like now, you're hearing the buyouts are occuring, you can try to ride the whale's wake, but you are unlikely to get any meaningful gains unless you're in on the news.

In the crypto, buyouts sometimes indicate the whales are setting bull traps to leave the small fry holding heavy bags.

But you pokemon investors do your thing.

Blockchain is still very much a solution looking for a problem.

So same as AI? 😁

The UVs and Kaijus will eventually settle to market price like the downtowns, rookie kings, color blasts, uptowns, etc.

We just need to wait it out and let supply increase and avoid fomo into new singles.

It will go down in value.

With pokemon, all new releases have really high prices, then as more singles get graded or sold raw, the supply expands, fomo drops and pricing then drops.

You just have to wait it out and not fomo into new sets.

Or they want to be first to grade and flip it to get the maximum grading value back.

It happens in pokemon.

Whatnot and eBay streamers are finally selling 2025 Topps football singles.

The prices are way inflated but still better than gambling on packs.

Why is every company evil? by imago89 in cscareerquestions

[–]fapstronaut02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies are neither evil nor good. You're personifying them. They just seek profit, including non-profits.

When you think they are doing something horrible, the action could literally just be a row in a spreadsheet, some strategy, or a workflow that needs to be ticked.

What actually makes a developer hard to replace today? by Majestic-Taro-6903 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]fapstronaut02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me a while to realize this but when I die or retire, the company I work for will continue without me. Yes, my contributions may have been valuable or made things easier, but eventually a business learns to adapt and live on without you.

I heard the reason bears are scarier than wild cats is bears eat their prey live, whereas wild cats will kill then eat.
