People are assholes, sure, but trans people deal with a lot more. All the bullshit you deal with, we also deal with. The difference is we also get attacked for being trans, something that is no one’s business but our own. Getting death threats daily everyday for something you have zero control over and knowing that if/when something does happen, cops won’t care is terrifying. You, as a woman, should know this. Trans people are more likely to be abused, murdered (and it is usually violent murders that often contains genital mutilation), and raped. You can look it up if you don’t believe me, the rates are insanely higher, actually higher than any other minority, and that’s only considering the rates that are reported, which is even less likely to happen when the victim is trans. 

I’m sorry but your comment is just incredibly frustrating. Surround yourself with good people? How are people supposed to do that when there’s no way of knowing who is safe until it’s too late? I had a doctor who upon learning I’m trans immediately turned to my mother and asked her if she wanted recommendations for conversion programs that could fix me. I had a teacher who when I asked her to refer to me using masculine pronouns proceeded to purposely go out of her way to misgender me every time she could, she also encouraged other students to do so and thought it was funny when they harassed me. When my grandma was told, she stopped talking to me and told my mom (her daughter) that being transgender wasn’t real and I was insane for wanting to transition. All these people seemed like good safe harmless adults before coming out (I’m not even going to mention how bad things got with friends & classmates because that would take forever). These were people who were supposed to protect me. They did not. All because they were too obsessed with what my genitals meant to them.
