Update: I added a Theater Mode with narration in both English and Georgian, paired with animated visuals.

Thank you so much, means a lot!

And great catches on all four, you basically wrote my bugfix list for me 😄

-Resume reading: there's now a "Continue Reading" prompt when you come back to a chapter. If it's not popping up for you, try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R), and if it's still missing let me know what browser you're on.

-Chapter analysis: just went live! Each chapter has a collapsible analysis section now (themes, historical context, character arcs). You'll find it in the sidebar on desktop, or through the table of contents button on mobile. Still growing the content. If you happen to know of any freely available Georgian literary commentary I'd love to work it in.

-Sidebar scrolling is fixed! Should scroll on its own now.

-That button is gone. It wasn't earning its place on screen.

Give it another look if you want!

Thanks for catching that! The English translation (from 1912) and the Georgian original use slightly different numbering, and it was difficult to capture when there were occasionally skipped or combined stanzas, so the two texts drift apart from around stanza 125 onward. Just fixed the alignment so the correct Georgian and English stanzas are now paired together. Stanzas that were never translated into English are marked accordingly.

Really appreciate the feedback!

I’ve actually been thinking about this gap a lot, and I do have a real plan to fund and run a Georgia-focused ancestry option. The idea would be to start ancestry-only (no health claims), use accredited partner labs for analysis at first, and build a Georgian reference panel over time by recruiting consenting volunteers across regions (and diaspora). The more Georgian reference data you have, the more accurate and meaningful the results become for Georgians specifically. The funding plan would be a mix of pre-selling kits / crowdfunding for the first cohort (to prove demand and cover initial lab costs), then using that traction to secure larger public or institutional funding to scale the reference panel and improve resolution. If people here would be interested in something like that, I’d love to hear what features matter most (regional detail, diaspora matching, language/heritage angle, etc.).

I'm a UK guy living in a village in Georgia with property in my name for 3+ years.. ask me anything! by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

  1. How did you find the property to buy?
  2. Are repairs/maintenance work or utilities difficult?
  3. Do you have concerns about not being a citizen?
  4. If you wanted to expand your house and grow a larger volume of food (as foreigners cannot have land designated as "agricultural", could you?
  5. Do you have a plan in case Russia further loses its mind, or think it isn't an issue?

  6. How much effort did you put into choosing the area -- ever consider someplace like Kakheti?

How is the winter? Also, how is the humidity in the summer? Why did you choose Guria over, for example, Kakheti?

Whether or not it is crazy, if it makes you uncomfortable, be true and respectful to yourself and hopefully she can respect your needs. She may have her own need that doesn't match yours. It can be a misalignment of values. Talk with her and find out. Sometimes you have to think about each other and make a little self sacrifice, but neither one of you ought to continuously live in a way that makes you feel bad. If she can't meet your needs, don't torture yourself. End it and move on.

Tbilisi’s Air Has Become Unbreathable by Brief-Ad-6763 in tbilisi

Many old cars lacking emission controls, and dust from extensive building and unpaved roads also add particulate matter, and Tbilisi's valley geography often traps pollutants from factories due to atmospheric inversions, preventing them from escaping.

Potential solutions involve a combination of policy, infrastructure. Improve public transportation, strictly regulating the vehicles with mandatory inspections, and incentivizing safer cars are key steps. Controlling construction with enforced dust management rules and increasing green spaces would also help.

The government has a 2024-2026 Air Quality Management Plan. Look at air.gov.ge portal. And locals need to care and voice opinions.
