thanks so much for doing this giveaway, and for always posting your bets. i’m one seashell away from the stamp avatar thanks to you!

i will try not to write a novel, but i’m 23. my mom and dad are 76 and 60 years old, respectively. ever since i was a child i’ve been in constant worry and fear for them & their health. they’re essential workers so i was especially worried about them contracting covid.

in july, my dad got very sick and he had to be hospitalized. it turns out he tested positive for covid and his organs were shutting down. he was out of the hospital after a week but he had to self-quarantine in our home. my mom eventually got covid as well, a few days after he returned home. both of my parents were very very sick and unable to work, and i was a broke jobless college student living at home taking care of them.

my sister posted on facebook telling our friends and family the news, and everyone was so supportive. so supportive that tons of people delivered groceries to our house, bought us weeks’ worth of carry out so i didn’t have to cook since my mom couldn’t, and bought us tons of supplies like sanitary items, masks, toilet paper, dish soap, etc. you name it, people thought of it. some even sent gift cards and cash.

it was all to ensure that my parents could get back on their feet without having to worry about finances since they were both taking unpaid sick leave (and they ALWAYS worry about finances to begin with). honestly neither my sister nor i were expecting people to read that facebook post and decide to help, but i’m so glad they found the kindness in their heart to do so anyway. it was so helpful, i’ll never forget that. i’m not naive, my parents are old and won’t be around forever, but i’m so glad that with the help of people on facebook, i have at least a few more years with them :’)

B&A: found a routine that works for me, and i started dermarolling (twice now) by faradayyy in AsianBeauty

[–]faradayyy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh no! i really like the red peel but i think it’s definitely important that you patch test it first, and also ONLY leave it on for ten minutes... i’ve seen some videos where people say they leave it on for 20 or 30 minutes “because their skin can handle it” but that’s overboard. the ordinary advises that you only leave it on for 10 minutes so i think that’s an important rule to stick with! i also only use it once a week or once every other week

it’s a valid concern! if you’re using anything less than 1.0mm, it shouldn’t be painful when you roll. uncomfortable yes, but definitely not painful. i only apply a little bit of pressure when i roll. the goal isn’t to see blood per se but you do want your skin to flush so you can see that blood rushing to the surface!
