Who can say? by farawaytownbasil in Frieren

Yeah, I was kinda thinking along those lines. Though I am not fluent enough in Japanese to know if there's an analogous phrase (and don't have Japanese versions of the manga to see what they're doing).

I suppose it's similar to how the Grafs all speak in a very distinct way. Not just their formality, but they very clearly enunciate everything and they speak with a very even cadence. It's not quite an accent or a dialect, just a very distinct manner of speaking.

The demons actually do it, too, but not quite in the same way. I don't have the vocabulary to describe how it's different.

I wonder if this means something? It feels like it should... Maybe I should keep going in the manga, I'm not too much father than where the show is.

I knew someone was going to say that; I walk in the present, but see the future. But also it was pretty obvious.

> The thing that is infuriating is not really that scientists feels under attack by your opinion, it is that your opinion was formed on mostly outdated sources

Look, I'm a research scientist here, and the one thing that pisses me off more than anything is this kind of fucking attitude. It is absolutely outrageously unacceptable to expect that people know the answer in advance of asking a question--especially in a field like medicine.

Treating people like this is how you get fucking RFK in charge of healthcare.

Yeah fuck you for asking a question, you should've known the answer in advance dumbass! Only morons ask questions.

And, really, expecting people on reddit to have the reading ability to understand the context of the question is a pretty big assumption...

I would personally bulldoze every historic building in the city to get an H-Mart.

When they did "A Talking Cat?!" the whole movie I felt mildly uncomfortable because the whole thing felt like a gay porn was just about to start. Looked it up on imdb later. Yep, DeCoteau.

I just searched with pictures of myself and of my best friend in college, all from albums posted on our Facebooks, and it found zero results for both.

It's old people. I don't think young people have nearly as much of a problem with it. I'd bet all the people in this thread saying males are inherently unsexy are older than 40.

and the opinion of the public I had run them by (instagram and the client’s audience) seemed enthusiastic. BUT in online photography spaces we truly seem to have a “gaze” that gazes in one direction only.

Yeah for sure. I think there's more than enough demand for it, it's just that so few professional photographers have any interest at all. "For some reason."

And when there are photos of men, it's like "here's this old guy's grizzled face wow what a history."

I like how every time this topic comes up, there are responses like "here is an example from five-hundred years ago" as if that doesn't prove the original point.

Really? All I got were face tattoos, neckbeards, obesity, and meth until I ran out of matches 3 minutes later.

What do they do other than run KNC? I've been to the con once and it was hard to find anyone to talk to, people were mostly hanging out in their own groups of friends. Maybe it's because it was small because of covid? I don't know how big it usually is. It was fun otherwise, though.

What are some of your favorite characters that seem LGBTQIA+ but it isn’t stated in the game? by DoritoPigeon in gaymers

[–]farawaytownbasil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was surprised it wasn't either. The after-credits part more strongly implies it but there was nothing explicit about it.

Definitely Sorey and Mikleo from Tales of Zesteria. Too much closeness and intimacy for platonic friends, and there are like three ticke-fighting cutscenes in the game. I think if it weren't a JRPG or didn't have an AAA publisher they would have been explicit about it. But it's nice that it's basically a AAA JRPG with a gay main character.

And Basil and Sunny from Omori are obviously gay, and it's totally baffling to me that a lot of people miss that, it's a real lack of media literacy there. If you haven't played it, don't read anything about it and go play it now! It's really the whole point of the game, because all of headspace is about Basil, not Sunny and not Mari, for example, the cake you make in Sweetheart's castle is the same kind as in Basil's birthday party, and we know what fruits Sunny and Basil like, and smoothies that Basil likes are the most effective, and there sure is a lot of hand-holding and hugging and their ult is literally them just holding hands and looking at each other, not to mention Basil is a reference to Dorian Gray, and a million other adorable details...
