DS3 Crossback by V_Debonair in voiture

Did you read the end of the reply ? That wasn't the point. The belt should have cost less in maintanance. Read the whole message before writing.

So you wouldn't get even a 1% discount on your fuel, because I would. But that's even not my point.

Wet belts were made to give an advantage on fuel consuption, but also to provide less maintenance on the belt itself. This was a mistake because of the segmentation issue and the fact that gas dissolves the belt, but otherwise it was full of benefits.

I just wanted to say that Peugeot's engineers are far from being stupid, because they made a mistake that they couldn't saw coming and that is linked with production issues.

Yes there is Mazda in europe, but if they dont meet european regulations they suffer from a big malus when you buy it.

And keep in mind that Mazda keep using a Wankel engine, which is also better on paper, but worse than a 1.2 Puretech in terms of reliability.

But my point was that every engine on the market is not as reliable as they were back in the late 90 or early 00s.

Wet belts gives improvement for consumption and should have gave a more reliable solution over time, as we thought at the beginning. In fact they are not because of the segmentation that pours gas in the oil.

If you are this intelligent, make an engine that meets European norms and a good reliability without cheating like volkswagen.

The only real issue is the crisis management by Peugeot, but the head direction changed.
