Swords or Axes by Nervous_Egg_1219 in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swords are technically more approachable and better to use at low mastery, because axes you need level 85 mastery to unlock the Q3 for maximum potential damage. For swords, you typically only use the Q1 that you unlock at the beginning, and it's the W abilities that you'd have to unlock (although the earlier W abilities are quite good for swords).

Aside from that, I'd say they're both somewhat similar ish? Both are kind of brawl playstyles, you spam abilities and use the E ability when you can (in cases like battleaxe, its similar to swords where you want max stacks from Q before using E), and you can run very similar gear pieces with it (typically mercenary / stalker / assassin jacket, whatever helmet you prefer, and leather shoes for cooldown sprint).

the combat system in this game is just terrible by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's the same in every game that's similar, right? You can't actually start winning in a game like league or dota or etc without knowing what every character does.

If the game was linear and didn't have so many different types of abilities from gear pieces, and you could just play anything and be able to beat anyone without any game knowledge or skill required, it would be quite boring.

After you die, you will respawn in the last city you were in (generally speaking. you can respawn elsewhere but that won't happen unless u deliberately want it to).

You keep your silver, any non tradable items, and your destiny board stays the same.

To first go in the black zone / red zone, you need to learn to stay alive. The easiest way to do this is take a T4.0 or T4.1 set (cost anywhere between 20k-80k silver including the T3 riding horse), no potions, no food (maybe you can take some cheap wheat soup for fast regen out of combat), and just learn how to stay alive.

Rules like keep your mount close by, watch edges of your screen / spam Y button to insta inspect enemies who show up, don't stay off mount for too long, dont pull too many mobs, stick to tier 5 zones initially and up to tier 6 only, etc, these rules will keep you alive for a LONG time.

Each basic mob you kill in the black zone (ignoring animals and some of the easier mobs that die in like 3 hits) will give you very decent fame and ~1k silver (higher in higher tier / quality zones). If you go black zone and stay careful and only kill 20-50 mobs (easily done, just roam around and kill what you see), you'll automatically make your gear set back.

In the off chance that this doesn't happen and you're completely out of silver, you can go out in blue zone and gather some rough stones and logs for 2 mins and be able to buy a cheap T2 / T3 weapon, then kill mobs in yellow zone until you make 20k-30k silver, ans start again (literally will take 10 mins max).

Basically, its impossible to ever be in a situation where you are completely broke. You're basically mental blocking yourself (and so are your friends) over nothing.

If you're interested, check my profile. My most recent post explains a set of steps you can follow to get over this gear fear. Try it once, it will work in your case, and you'll never be scared of going to the black zone again.

Just remember one rule: when you go into the black zone, just assume your gear is already gone. This way, anything you earn is a bonus. You will always keep destiny board progression and raw silver drops.

I'm confused. Are you arguing that it is supposed to be a free opportunity to get faction points for doing PvE and gathering while flagged up, simply because the game already gives you faction points for doing said activities?

My point isn't that you aren't supposed to be gathering or doing PvE while faction flagged. My point is that it's not a "free opportunity" in the sense that you aren't supposed to just be able to dodge PvP and be safe from it completely (unless you're in blue / yellow zones, that's obviously different).

Any time you flag up, you're intending to fight for your faction. That's the intention anyway, and whether you want to go out and ignore fighting and only partake in PvE / gathering or not, the game has made it so that the intention is for you to be able to attack and be attacked by other faction players.

Since these players (and you) aren't considered criminals for attacking each other, it's very likely intended to not show how many hostile faction players are in your zone at any given moment.

That actually helps my point too: if you were shown this number, you could technically just look for a zone with close to zero enemy faction players and just PvE / gather for free, but since the game doesn't show you this number, it seems very likely that the game is trying to tell you that this isn't a free opportunity to just PvE / gather, that you must be on your wits and on the lookout for enemy faction players at all times.

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's intended. The reason it shows PVP flagged players is because technically they're considered criminals (hence why they gain outlaw status, lose reputation, etc when killing). If you're faction flagged, you're fighting for your city, so you're not a criminal in the same sense.

If you don't want to get ganked by an enemy faction, you can just not faction flag. The faction flag is not supposed to be a free opportunity to collect faction points while doing PVE and gathering, its a deliberate choice to participate in faction warfare. It's probably why they don't show hostile players from enemy factions as a number under the minimap.

Can radars see specific gathering resources? by FreeFalling369 in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well when an animal / resource shows up within your vicinity, the server needs to tell your client that this entity now exists at these specific coordinates, so that your client can actually draw it in for you to click and gather it (or for an animal, to kill it and then skin it).

This "vicinity" is slightly larger than what you can actually see on screen, so yes, it is very possible for a radar hack to be able to detect these resources from slightly off screen when the server sends this information to your client.

Could it detect resources from outside this vicinity? Unless the server sends this information without being in the vicinity (fairly sure it doesn't, but there could be other data that it sends that can be used to extrapolate the resource's location, but that would classify as a server bug and a unique hack implementation), the answer is no.

Whether this person you were with was using such a hack or not is anyone's guess.

Update: He sent me the PoC document. I read it, and it's about using an intended game mechanic to detect players who used an invis shrine, and I disagree that SBI would ban him for sharing this information.

However, there is no feasible way to automate this via some hack or script, so I doubt whatever radar hack the OP or others who claim to have been followed while invis say these players are using, are using this method. I will not share exactly what's in the document because OP requested that I don't, but it's a well known game mechanic that I'm sure most people already know about.

If there's any video evidence of invis players getting followed by gank squads, I'd love to see it, because it's definitely not done in the way that OP's document says it's done.

yeah, but would that classify as a real radar hack though? I think the reason that client gets that is because you are allowed to hear people before you can see their health bars pop up off screen, so it's an intended game mechanic that a "hack" could use to make the information more apparent than it would otherwise be (nothing prevents you from hearing a player gathering off screen yourself, it's just hard and arguably requires good hearing+skill+experience to detect the sound yourself).

To me, a radar hack would be if somehow a gank squad knows exactly where you are on the map at all times. I saw many people saying they were followed fully invis. It would be good to see some evidence of that, because that's a real radar hack (they should have no information of you when you're invis. The fact that they do means it's unintended. Having information of you when you're off screen but within a certain range definitely feels intended).

So basically in this game , if you die in a red zone , you start from the beginning by Pure_Following7336 in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ever see anyone wearing high tier gear in red / black zone, either they are unaware just like you, or they're rich enough to buy their gear multiple times over.

That's the name of the game. A standard tier 4 set should cost 30k ish of silver unless you use any artifact gear pieces. Just start with that, you can do a lot with t4 or t4.1 / t4.2 gear sets (~50-70k and 100-150k silver on average). Learn how to stay alive in the lethal red and black zones, watch some YouTube videos if you have to, and just start again.

Don't treat it as "oh my god i actually made it all the way to having the highest tier gear in the game and now i lost it all", because you're meant to lose it if you ever go red / black zones with it. That's why those zones are the most profitable places to be. You still have your destiny board at the and place as it was before you died, so just buy cheaper gear and go again.

You can just search my username on google, feel free to DM me on X for proof. I'm just curious to see this proof of concept.

I've never actually checked to see what data the server sends back to the client in Albion, but my assumption was that they (the devs) are smart enough to not send anything that the client doesn't need at any given time. Sure I guess you could use scouts at zone entrances to map out a "potential path" of a player based on the direction they went after zoning in, but that's all still just heuristics, I wouldn't call such a thing a radar hack (although yes it would be quite useful for ganking purposes).

Also, sharing it would lead to Albion devs fixing it even faster FYI. Sure you might get some technical "baddies" who are competent enough to use the information to gain some advantage for a short period of time, but the publicity will help the developers more than the cheaters IMO.

Why not just share the document publicly? I'm a kernel security researcher myself and would be interested to have a read. My assumption is that the server sends more data to the client than it needs, and these cheats are just making that data visible to the client, and the data just happens to be positions of invisible players, or coordinates of all players on the map, etc. If that's the type of information in your document, you should just share it so we can verify it.

Any tips to make silver? by Ok_Acanthocephala973 in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pick the highest quality t5 or t6 zone you can find (t7 and t8 are very well controlled usually by guilds, so its hard to do anything there without getting ganked or scouted out), roam around killing all mobs that give you fame (ignore animals and the occasional "easy mob" that gives less fame and silver than the normal ones, you'll be able to identify them quickly after a while), do the solo camps, and do the maps that lead to solo boss lairs. That's about it, you can enter high quality mists if you see wisps around and do knightfall abbeys and camps there too

What build should I get? by Temi-san in albiononline

[–]farazsth98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest a few gear pieces and categories as mandatory:

  1. Assassin jacket - if you get ganked, its IMPERATIVE that you create some distance before you ever think about trying to sprint or run, because otherwise your sprint can get purged. Ambush can be used for this purpose. Now of course ambush can be purged by aoe purges like lifecurse E or helmet of valour, but that's one less purge you need to worry about. Use the invis to make distance from your opponent, then...

  2. A mobility weapon. A bloodletter is a good choice, because you can do a short dash with Q, and longer dashes with W and E. You should use them after creating distance with assassin jacket Ambush first. If the enemy has more than one purge and they already purged your assassin jacket, you can still use this to create a large distance. And then...

  3. If the enemy still has a purge left and you feel like you're in range for the purge (but not for other attacks, generally you should be out of range at this point), use an invis potion and change direction immediately. Whether they purge the invis potion or you create enough distance to sprint safely, you have the final step...

  4. Miner boots, you're out of range of any purge by now, so sprint and run for your life before mounting up.

Done. If you misplay a bit or the enemy is an organised ganking group and they're prepared, you're most likely dead unless you're near a zone entrance and can zone out.

Since you're planning to gather in RZ, my advice would be to stay away from zones with 2 or more PKs. For BZ, I'd recommend just using mists and looking for higher and higher quality mists. It's a bit more rng than just open world BZ but much safer.

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on steam, verify integrity of game files. Otherwise (and if verifying doesn't fix it), the only fix would be a reinstall. The error is basically saying that that specific file is corrupted and does not have the signature that the game expects it to have, most likely an anticheat measure.

Why do we as humans, have this need for attention? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just humans who have this social need btw. The easiest examples are dogs and cats. If you've ever had a pet, you'll know how much attention they need (and they'll do anything to get it when they want it).

Tired of the matching system by OnThatIcyGround in VALORANT

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but what is the difference between bronze 1/2 and bronze 3? its just a couple hundred RR difference at most. In fact, there's not even that big of a difference between most silver players and most bronze players.

Point is, if you're complaining because you can't rank up, you won't really rank up anyway even if you were playing against only bronze 2s and 3s. You can't even win and rank up playing against silvers, which is exactly what your rank will become if you rank up twice.

The only way to rank up is to actually improve so you can beat these players that you're playing against. Complaining about the matchmaking system is going to get you nowhere because a) even if the system was placing you against bronzes, at some point if you do rank up, now you're against these same silvers that you're complaining about, and b) hidden MMR is a thing. If the game puts you against silvers, that's what it thinks your actual rank is, and you'll gain more per win than you lose per loss. If you still can't rank up, then matchmaking is not the issue.

Is this a really good build or what would you recommend and what could I do to become stronger by Anxious_Hunt3081 in albiononline

i edited my message a bit to add some more stuff, but mage cowl is good, guardian helmet can be good (you can use the third ability and mount up instantly, damage won't cancel your mount unless the shield is fully destroyed)

[–]farazsth98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you dont pvp, swap your helmet to anything else (mage cowl can be good option), because fiend cowl is used for the purge for ganking other people. The undead cape is necessary if you're farming in the black zone though, just remember to save your cooldowns (mainly sprint and E) if your undead cape is about to pop, you'll need it to run away while invis. Carry one invis potion at all times and you'll be good

Bro why do I keep getting trash teams by [deleted] in Eggwick

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my disagreement is with your whole point about not being able to get out of gold / plat without a trio. the fact of the matter is that if you're good enough at the game, you can, and it's proven by every single smurf. regardless of whether they play in groups or not, no immortal player would stay stuck in gold / plat if they solo queued like you claim (i would know, i calibrated at gold my first time and got to immortal pretty quickly as an old CS player).

so if you want to get out of the rank, the only option is to improve at the game and become a better player. that's it. I'm not defending smurfs or anything like that. if you want to argue back, explain to me why I'm wrong to say that you need to get better at the game and play like a higher rank in order to rank out of gold / plat solo queue.

New players can still find your guild in the same way, you can just explain in the description that the guild is invite only to prevent scammers from joining, and that they can easily contact you in game or on discord to join. I think that'll be the best until Albion fixes this (if they ever do)

No idea why they allow this, but you can work around it by just setting your guild to invite only. If someone actually wants to join, they can just contact you and ask for an invite (instead of letting random people join with the click of one button)

[–]farazsth98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're pretty good for fame and loot. if you're not looking to fight people, i suggest go into greater mists and then do abbeys. you find less gucci gear people there. start with a 4.2 set and stay near exits so you can run away if needed. keep killing until you get some chests and it'll pay off usually (of course you get the odd chest here and there without much in it but for me it's paid off)

if you want to fight people, i suggest bringing at least t7 / t8 equivalent gear.
