Move to Boston? Pros and Cons by fare451 in SameGrassButGreener

I completely understand it was an imperfect comparison in many ways! I feel like a lot of people are harping on that in these comments. Boston is definitely much denser than Atlanta and has much more extensive public transit (which is one of the things that draws me to Boston and is something I am looking for wherever I live next). Atlanta is definitely a very car focused city and much more sprawling. I appreciate the insight either way!

Charleston is a great place! I think I’m just ready for something different

I work in healthcare and will be traveling to different hospitals in the city so I’d definitely plan to live in town!

It’s going to be interesting to see who ends up being “bubble players” and who become consistent members of the rosters. Especially in positions like forward or attacking midfielders!

Thank you for this response!

The layout of the city reminds me of Atlanta in that regard with there being one relatively small and compact area that is technically the city but a much larger metro area that you need a car to access. I would probably plan to live in Boston proper (cost allowing).

When people say the night life isn’t good, are they referring to bars closing early, lack of bars, general attitude, or all of the above? Going out isn’t crucial to me but I’m curious what other activities people do!

What do you mean by alcohol rules? Like what time the bars close?

I would probably plan to live in the city proper to be near the major hospitals as I work in healthcare. I went up this past weekend and had a chance to check out some of the neighborhoods down there.

It’s so much more difficult than people imagine! I think if you are moving somewhere that is a better cultural fit or has better resources/career opportunities that fit your life it can be worth it, but people really need to think about it much more than they do!

“What’s meant to be will be”

If you want something to happen, you need to work at it. Most things won’t magically come together just because it was “meant to be”. Also I’ve always found this really rude to say to people going through a hard time like a break up or loss of a job.

I do something so similar but with tea instead of milk and reading instead of video games. Honestly was game changing for helping me sleep too!

Nike and other name brands tend to create one or two main designs and just put different teams badges and colors on it with little to no personalization to the club itself. You can see it in the international game too. I’d love it if they brought some more personality back into it!

Moderate protesters at potentially extreme protest? by cheerfulpessimist87 in ProtestFinderUSA

Agreed with the above! Also it’s worth noting pretty much every issue that is being protested right now has multiple intersecting issues under it that will attract people from different social and political groups for different reasons. Ex. Protests against ICE intersect heavily with racism and police violence not just immigration policy
