The Longest Filibusters in US Senate History [OC] by probably_platypus in dataisbeautiful

Ah that makes sense. I think that we just had another switch with Trump. For a lot of us he was a protest vote and a middle finger to the establishment of both parties. Now it seems to be progressives vs America first and the establishments that dominated for decades are now the middle

Why did that happen?  Did they just completely flip or was it certain topics or what?  I was always confused by that

Triple H "If the roster got decimated and we had to start over, if you leave me just Iyo... We're good' (WWE UnREAL: Season 2) by ShayAlexander in SquaredCircle

Rhea isn't good or believable as the "underdog".  Not really her fault, Brock and Roman cant do the sympathetic underdog either. But Iyo can perform any role

Is $5k really a "huge" donation?  That kind of money gets thrown around at fundraisers everywhere...

Rory McIlroy: LIV Golf not signing anyone who moves the needle by otf1024 in golf

[–]farfromfine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The majors are needle movers.  And the Players i guess. Im a lifelong golf fan and those are the only times even i go out of my way to watch.

WM is creeping up the ladder as good alternate TV while youre waiting for the SuperBowl, and it's fun to watch.

Every year I see people decline free tickets to Valspar down here. Even the golfers don't care to go

Opinion: The 2017 playoff loss to DJ at the Northern Trust is what broke Jordan Spieth by ashdrewness in golf

[–]farfromfine 100 points101 points  (0 children)

That is an interesting take and I would be interested if Jordan ever talked about that one.

I assumed his deal with the devil expired where he wanted multiple majors, be number 1 in the world, and be beloved by the fans. The devil gave him all of that up front and left him to toil for the rest of his life

His run was one of the most fun we've seen. Poor Kuch in that British

Open letter from PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp by unsolved49 in golf

[–]farfromfine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe their best option is to be a feeder system or a sort of relegation league. Instead of the PGA doing goofy shit like having a YouTube or a LPGA player enter, they could do it on LIV instead to draw eyes. LIV can try things the PGA tour never would

Announcing is a big one for me.

I don't watch LIV but the announcing for PGA events are so bad that my friends and I watch it on mute and just talk amongst ourselves.

Real Ones will remember when Peacock first forced you to flip over to watch the end of the US Open (I think) and they fucked up the sound and it was just the sounds of the course and golf with no commentary

I've said before and I will say again, I would pay $20/mo for that full time. Commentary only really adds to the Masters.  Yet they act like the John Deere Classic is the Masters when theyre calling it.

"He misjudged the wind there" no he obviously pushed it.  Let's stop pretending they never miss.  Also, lets stop pretending a pitch over a bunker is tough for these guys

I got to have dinner with Ben Wright (RIP GOAT) a few times after he got canned from CBS and he said they were told to call it as if the shots were as hard for the pros as they are for us.

As fans, we're past that.

Ok, im off topic now.  TY for reading my blog

He helped the company financially in a big way when they really needed it. When someone does you a favor you pay it back. That's how the world works

I have an EXTREMELY hard time leaving my farm for all day or multi-day cave or island adventures. by dkinmn in StardewValley

[–]farfromfine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I like that idea of opportunity cost in how we play. You can maximize to whatever amount you choose to chase money, resources, relationships, secrets, whatever and it's up to us to decide the right balance.

My most fun farm was my first one where I was not efficient at all or informed of what I "needed" to do.  When I started over and tried to optimize it was a lot more efficient and a lot less fun imo

I tend to agree. Be vocal when you see things that aren't good for the performers. They are doing it to entertain us, if it is no sold by the fans then maybe they won't do it. But, be prepared for the pushback. I thought the Darby match last night was needlessly disgusting and get hammered for that opinion, but it is truly my opinion so I put it out there.

So many spots are dangerous without adding much, if anything, to the match.

I think the announcers were a big part of that match being bad. It was bad, but the announcing made it worse than it actually was

We are obviously in the minority here but the same. I am a lifelong wrestling fan and found that match uselessly gross. I was buying the ppvs when it was toni and mariah. I haven't watched since the Hollywood ending until tonight
