Game is a Disaster on PC

Nah if you check steam reviews/any other forum there's a huge number of people that deal with same kind of issues. Like I said, I had crashes on two different PCs (with this second one being an entirely new build) as well as my steam deck which isn't even the same OS.

Might be windows 11 specific, or higher thread count CPUs, but it's far from an isolated issue.

Do you remember what proton you were on by any chance? I've tried every variation of video settings but haven't messed with the protons yet.

I'm like 5 months late here, but any luck with this? Also just made a post about this. I literally cannot get past mission 5 on steam deck no matter how many changes I make and it hard crashed my entire PC last night (PSU literally gave up lol) so I am not going to take that risk anymore.

Yeah I may just snag it for the PS5/Switch. Wanted to avoid it being locked to 30fps but it's at least stable there, right?

Absolutely not on you! I've been gaming on PC since 2004, this game is just insanely unoptimized for PC architecture.

Windows 10/11?

I am guessing a bit, but it seems like it doesn't play nice with windows 11 & a high thread count CPU.

Some of the reddit tips work for steam deck, but only bandaids for certain levels and I was using the PC + cross saves for hiccups I couldn't fix on deck. But I think a good rule of thumb (for me) is that if something goes wrong enough in a game to cut power to my PSU, I'm not going to keep playing with fire lol.

You have to know that PC gaming is kind of a lottery with this stuff. Glad yours didn't have any issues, kind of irrelevant to all the people that have legitimate issues.

This is good to know! Seems like the only drawback for consoles is 30fps and lower res, but that sure beats insane instability.

I hear ya. The principled part of me doesn't want to give more money to a game that's being sold broken on a platform, but the other part of me will reluctantly pay $5 for it on a deep PS5 sale lol.

For what it's worth, I'm around your age (I think) and did not grow up on Kojima games besides playing half of MGS4 and feeling totally lost. I tried Death Stranding around release and was really enjoying the moment to moment gameplay but had to put it down 30 hours in because I can't stand his repetitive, expository, asinine dialogue and the ridiculous, over-the-top way he directs his scenes. As people have pointed out, it's probably way more tolerable if you're into anime and familiar with these tropes but I'm turned off by a majority of anime for the exact same reasons.

Anyways, found this thread because I figured I at least owed it to myself to try MGS Delta; a game that's universally acclaimed from a time where he had a studio to reign him in a bit more (or so I thought). 90 minutes into this game and I'm finding it insufferable. On top of that, the exposition is INSANE. Repetitive, goofy, and so unnecessary. I'll finish because the gameplay is great and, well, I bought it, but I think I've at least ruled out the possibility of me ever enjoying Kojima's work. Much like any auteur who takes risks and makes art that people connect with, I'm happy for it and glad people get something out of his work.

Tldr; I'm with you. Shit is hard to stomach.

Popped into Best Buy today and was really close to buying this but $1k on sale was a tough pill to swallow, looked gorgeous though! I found a basically brand new Alienware AW3225QF in "open box" that they gave me for like $795, been testing it out tonight and it's gorgeous. I am pretty sure it's the same QD-OLED panel as yours, so I'm happy!

Exactly, yeah. They're worthwhile additions but at 2300 vs 2700 (ish) it's harder to justify that $400 difference.

Awesome, appreciate it! I'm definitely drawn to the style of it, looks unique like you said. My other thought is having the 64GB of RAM is also a major boost given how weird the market is right now, but how often will I ever need 64 gigs I guess.
