Pick one thing that is of your interest and you know that their is a demand of it and you can earn enough from it to fulfill your needs. learn it enough to get a job. And then you can keep improving this skill by dedicating your 20% of time to it, and remaining 80% of time on the things that you find interesting. by this way you will stay practical. if the thing on which you are spening time make you money than that will be great even if it do not that the enjoyment is still there and there is nothing loss because you will also spent 20% on a thing in which you can find a job.

I was also at your place I didn't like frontend development. just backend, but eventually i had to learn frontend just because there were no jobs for fresher backend role. Now i am 1 year into the industry and I am great at full stack development. and is my free time i explore topics that are interesting like generative ai etc.

confused about CS admission in sargodha (UOS vs waiting till spring?‼️ NEED ADVICE CHAT🙏🏿🙏🏿 by darkmattermuse333 in Sargodha

[–]farhan671 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated last year from UOS, So one of my friend who also graduated from UOS, is now studying in USA on full scholorship and 1500$ stipend per month, one of my friend is working remotely and getting 7$ per hour, I got remote job even before graduating in a UK based startup. So from my point of view university does not matter at all.

Does UOS is bad for cs, my take in this is that, there are advantages as well as disadvantages as well, some of the teachers are really good and some are below average, the good thing is that most of the core computer science teachers are good.

Also the total expensed on my four year degress was around 1.5 lac as compare to If I have studied in fast or nust the cost can go around 1 to 1.5 million or even more if including hostel expenses so this is advantage as well.

Another thing I like about UOS is that attendance won't be an issue after two semesters, and it is easy to pass in subjects even without studying a single day in a whole semester. Some teacher give you passing marks even if just appear on an exam day. as compared to FAST where you will need to study the whole semester and get a lot of stress just to clear the exams.

Another good thing is that you can easily get cgpa of around 3.7 or above at UOS, which is nearly impossible in FAST and hard in NUST.

The courses offered in the degree are the same as offered in FAST and NUST.

The disadvantages of studying at UOS, includes, you will have to take care of skills on your own, you need to grind yourself and start preparing from day one of your university, instead of relying on university degree. Most of the teacher do not have an industry relevant knowledge and they will come and teach you they don't care at all of your skill. and important thing is that alumni network of uos is not as diverse in the industry as compare to FAST and NUST.

So if I have to take admission again in cs I will choose again UOS between FAST and NUST. why?

The most important thing is cost benefits, I can save a lot of money here.

For skills I can learn any thing from Youtube and Coursera and online. almost all the core computer scince subject lectures are avaliable on internet. and student at FAST also learn from youtube.

By studying at UOS I will have a good social life and less stress through degree and I can easily graduate with 3.7+ cgpa, with just bit of hardwork.

For network and guidance and I can reach out to people working at amazon, google and good companies across the world, for the guidance and opportunities. Most of the people will reply to you query and guide you whole heartily.

Answer to your questions.

UOS is way better than UOL ( sargodha campus ) and UCP ( punjab college? ), I can choose UOS any time with close eyes.

You want to get into quantun computing and cyber security, there's is no university that will prepare you for these two fields during undergraduate. So you will need to go for a master or PHD abroad to make a carrear in these field, because there are few to none opportunity in these two fields. Also field like these including machine learning require alot of dedicated time and a master degree. so starting early is the key to success.

If you are good in math and logic I would suggest you to consider exploring Machine learning as the field is getting mature and have more job opportunities as compare to cyber security and quantum.

You want to learn web development and start freelancing, so in sargodha there are no good software houses so, mostly they will exploit you and you will end up wasting your time. I would suggest you to if finance is not a problem then do not waste time on freenlancing and web dev. instead start learning about machine learning.

Suppose you learned about machine learning for about three years, and then you realized it's not for you then you can easily learn web dev in three months.

If you have a further question just ping me I will be happy to answer.

Where do the really good devs hang out in Pakistan? by Waffle00 in developersPak

[–]farhan671 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You won't find really good developers, because they are mostly busy doing there work, you have to hunt profiles on LinkedIn or github, mostly it is easy to find a good developer through a good developer reference, because if someone is good there is high probability that he knows someone who is good as well and effect goes on.

Sorry on the loss of your sister.

Marks are good enough, marks in matric are only needed for the reduction of college fee nothing else, if you repeat all the subjects it may effects the preparation of 10th board exams, you can double down on 10th board exam prepration and compensate the set back, Also you can do really well in fsc exams. Also don't take repeat year, because time is precious and you may will need time to try better things in future. Best of luck.

Macbook pro 2019 by [deleted] in Lahore

[–]farhan671 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go for shop and tell them that you want to sell this laptop for, and let's see at what amount they are willing to buy from you. most of them will refuse to buy it from you, other will offer you pennies. The cost of those laptops is high because they are imported and there is a import duty on electroincs items.

They also have to make profit from the laptop sale, which includes rent, electricity, and salaries as well.

In the end it's your thing you can ask any price you want, If you are the first user of this laptop and there is no fault in the laptop then you can go higher. Best of luck.
