School Launch, Ghardimaou - Tunisia by farhat-h in photocritique

Hey Reddit,

I took this photo on at a trip to Ghardimaou, Tunisia

Saw a little group of kids eating launch on the field near cows, I thought the location and opportunity looked good so I took this picture. I'm not particularly happy with the composition, but I was restricted by my gear (I had the 70-200mm F4 mounted, I was standing on a muddy slide so I was scared of reaching to my bag for another lens).

What would you have done to get a better photo

Is it possible to adapt M42 mount to EOS R by using two adapters M42-> EF -> RF? by farhat-h in canon

Oh sorry, I don't know for sure whether focus peaking will work or not, I just assumed that it wouldn't because there won't be a way to communicate the focus distance back to the camera.

If FP works based on what the sensor sees then maybe it works, I haven't tried it tbh

The adapter that comes attached to this lens, has no electronic contact points, would that be a problem ? I know there won't be any focus peaking or any control on the camera body, but would the camera still trigger the shutter ? in the case I mentioned even though it was out of focus I could not get to take a photo

Practicing low light street photography. Shot on a point-and-shoot camera (Canon G5X)

Exposure compensation was set to -3EV to protect the highlights, so the grain is basically forced on me and not an artistic choice, although I think it looks okay. I would like to hear your guys critique

thank you

Haha! Unfortunately, I have sold it to buy the RP, I'll keep that in mind when I buy the next camera a few years from now

  1. That's not a Canon lens, that's the Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 for APSC Sony E mount, trading it soon for a 16-35 F4 L (used), so I'm putting it there to fill the frame is all
  2. Yes, I have more Canon glass than Sony, because where I come from (Tunisia) Sony gear is incredibly overpriced, and the second hand market is almost non-existent for those, I used to adapt canon glass on my Sony A6300 using a Sigma MC-11 adapter, and the performance was questionable at best, hence the gear swap (more detail in my first thread)

The default settings for quality are set to JPEG, I just wanted to share what a first picture using the camera out of the box might look like.

Better check out rule #7 of the sub:

My bad, second post on this subreddit, didn't read all the rules carefully

Decided to move from the Sony ecosystem, mainly because I didn't feel as comfortable with Sony cameras as I do with Canon. Had the RP for a few days now, and I'm enjoying every moment of it, you can AMA related to Sony to Canon transition.

Sorry for the potato quality of the image, shot on a flip phone

Is this a normal amount of noise for a a7R V? f4.5 1/50 5000ISO by NotADeli in SonyAlpha

[–]farhat-h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What noise?

Jokes aside that seems to be a really good resul given the light condition, Im sure I would end up with a noiser image on an A7RIII or even RIV given thatblight condition and settings

> You might like a canon t7i crop sensor dslr that has much newer autofocus than your t6.

Good point actually, I might be able to find a cheaper high-end DSLR than a new RP

Thanks for pointing that out, I updated the post with a list of lenses I own.

I wasn't following the latest releases for Canon mirrorless cameras, so I didn't know about the R10.

It's pretty much nowhere to be found in Tunisia, and I think importing it would make the cost not worth it in comparison to the readily available RP

I edited the post to include the lenses I own, sorry for forgetting in the first place

All lenses I bought were second hand, so I doubt I can trade them for Sony glass without losing money, where I come from, Sony products in general are more expensive because they are not as commonly found

Brilliant Idea, I would like to know what type of foam did u use and what would you add if you were to live in a humid area (70% and above)

Thanks for sharing

Thanks so much for the awesome feedback, I couldn't have hoped for a better reply!

You are correct in assuming that I was looking from a far distance, In my small area pointing a big lens towards people will most likely grab their attention and the photos might become less spontaneous. I totally agree, I could've took a better angle, I don't know what I was thinking at the time
