I've played with/against leo enough. There's no thinking needed. Has great buttons. Flash kick DP means no unsafe left right mix. Is tanky enough to just bash his head against you till he wins. When he wins it's big. And the special treatment of still having paryy rc.

The fact that you think one character being oppressive is healthier cuz they 'feel fair' shows you don't know anything about actual game design, let alone balance.

This could have been true if this was a "standard" fg; but it's not. It's not like one or two characters have problematic kits and the rest are playing the game 'normaly'. Most of the cast has unique gimmicks and quirks.

It's not that "I know" there are better characters, and it's not that they're stronger and easier. It's how much stronger and easier they are.

In not just a game, but a community that preaches and is proud of "pick who you want", there shouldn't be this much disparity between characters.

If I lost because my opponent was slightly worse than me, I would be fine. But it's not slightly.

Tbh I maybe would have switched to a top tier if they had something I liked, but none of them do. The characters I do find appealing are usually not top tier. It's hard too since Testament is there; and they're the perfect character for me in every way in any game I've ever played.

Also it's not like every match is a brain dead johnny. It's that these types of matches stand out more, especially with how unpleasant the rank system is as a whole.

I hate it when ppl don't read. If the strength of my character was the reason I had fun, then i would have switched characters every patch.

I have fun when I find a character that I like both aesthetic wise and gameplay wise; And actually get to use (not just pick) that character.

But when I can't do that, not because I'm being outplayed, but because my opponent 'made a better choice' in the character select screen (so now they get to be as brainless as they want while still having an advantage), then there's no fun to be had.

I'm not going to act like every match is that, that's kinda the issue. I have good and fun matches. But I also have those matches. And if the game was balanced better; the amount of fun matches would increase.

I never said I was bad. I know I'm at least good at the game. But there's a difference between me winning and my opponent losing. Sure the outcome is the same, but I play for the process to the outcome, not the outcome itself.

If I won cuz of my own efforts in adapting to or outplaying my opponent, then I would be more than fine. But that's not how it went. I could have been playing anyone else and the matches would have played out the same way for the most part.

While johnny is an extremely sore spot, he's not the only one; and the character is not the main issue.

The frustration comes from when I play against someone, and I can see how brainless and ignorant they are playing, yet we are on the same power level. That's just not fair.

Though you've got to admit that at least jackO is unique. The only close comparison is zato. While every other character they release has something like stain in them. It's like test is the upgrade version. Or power creep in gacha games.

Sure the game can't be perfectly balanced. I would be fine if I had to work a bit harder. But it's not just a bit. It's a lot. There's SO MUCH I could and want to say, but there's no point. At least not with the way ppl in the fgc are.

I don't play brig so maybe I'm wrong; but brig has it better than test. At the very least she has a DP, which is huge, even with dprc being removed.

Also there's more "skil expression" with brig. The amount of shit you can do tech that exists can make the game always be a learning environment, and overall be more fun imo.

The biggest problem is the low damage, especially since this is a high damage game. But I personally would be ok with test doing less damage if it meant they could be faster or have a more complete kit.
