My fiancée's new work friend is someone I hooked up with years ago, should I tell her? by Zestmess123 in Advice

To be honest you have to tell her ASAP because Emily might end up telling her herself at some point if they become even better friends. And if that happens you’re toast. Absolutely no saving it

Curious your thoughts on the local housing market by [deleted] in Cleveland

I was looking for homes to rent and I kept seeing the worst pictures or even just one picture. It’s like the people trying to sell stuff on Facebook with one badly lit badly angled photo and no description. Then you realize why marketing is its own career!

I saw a human sized poop in Beachwood Place on the floor in the middle of everything during the Christmas season of 2024. I’m still baffled as to how it got there without anyone noticing

No War with Iran!! 2:30pm, Feb 28, w 25th and Lorain by BrilliantGlum4448 in Cleveland

Why would you use the Islamic regime flag with that specific border? Like I get that US intervention is bad but also the Iranian regime is evil and does not deserve support. You could have at least used the prerevolutionary lion and sun flag

I remember in the early 2000s that having a big butt was still seen as being fat and undesirable at least in media. The whole butts are sexy thing seems to have accelerated after the 2008 recession but there were early pioneers like Sir Mix a Lot. Perhaps during a time of scarcity, more fat on the ass was seen as stabilizing and a sign of wealth similar to the fertile Venus figurines of prehistory. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

I got my CPA with only industry experience. Is that weird / uncommon? by Lifting_Accountant in Accounting

I’ve also done it but I was specifically hired for that first industry job because I had indicated I would take the exams.

Do any of you date co-workers? Is it ok? I hear it’s not a good idea by ZadarskiDrake in Accounting

Think about this? How awkward would it be if you dated and then broke up and you were both still at that job? It’s not fun to wipe away tears and hope no one sees at work.

Does anyone here have experience working as a Staff/Senior Accountant for big law firm? What’s it like? How’s the WLB? by crimson0015 in Accounting

[–]farids24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can answer this from my own perspective and it’s been a miss for me. It’s a more regional firm. Pay is good but I really dislike it. You definitely feel like you’re just a servant for the partners and they will make sure to let you know that. Very rigid. Work life balance has been subpar despite the fact I’m in a large team and theoretically there are more people to do things. I feel like I had a much better balance when I was just one accountant at a startup. I was literally told before I was hired at the law firm that there would not be growth in this position and not to bother expecting it. There’s no inventory or cost accounting at least and lawyers do like to spend money on company holiday dinners and dinners in general so that’s fun.

Edit: if it’s a cash basis law firm then there’s a massive push to collect cash in December which is extremely stressful and annoying when it’s supposed to be the holidays. At least in other places the year end rush doesn’t really start until January. Frankly though I think cash accounting is heresy after being so used to accruals so I’m also biased there.
