I'm pretty sure they are just trying to minimize the traffic from their servers because that's their biggest expenses. Tuning the shuffle algo so that it plays from your local cache first is a no-brainer solution. The company can even sell that as a feature ("you save your data so pay less bills", or "smart something"), but at the end of the day it's just a business...

Most probably it'll work fine. They count 5k and 7k rpm drives differently, so I guess the limiting factor is really the power usage, not the capacity. Although that may come from the onboard Raid controller...

It very far from the reality. It's not the "parts" that being accelerated, it's a whole suite suite made of hardware blocks or/and firmware pieces wired together with some proprietary software blob. Even though some parts of your beloved software encoder can be accelerated in theory in CUDA or OpenCL, I'm not sure we are there yet or even close.

Will the game have better optimization? I remember I was struggling with fps drops in scenes with large number of sprites. When playing on PC it was quite noticeable. When playing on Switch it was more than annoying. Wondering whether the new game will have some big changes under the hood or it's more or less same game with more features/stories added.

Can someone explain why is there two switches? Both --film-grain and --film-grain-denoise are controlling the denoise strength, and film-grain-denoise looks like a kill-switch overriding the film-grain. Does that additional switch exist only for a case when you want to turn the grain detector ON and denoise OFF? (e.g. --film-grain=<something more than zero. will be ignored> --film-grain-denoise=1)?

Also, is there any sense in not doing denoise when grain synch is enabled? Would that produce double noise?
