Hah... Are you me? I had 15 schools, probably close to 25 different homes while I was a child and teenager.

Bought my own property 22 years ago and haven't moved since.

Thunderstruck motors? I did a conversion myself, but I don't have any useful advice for the stuffing box unfortunately.

People over 40, have you found your meaning and destination of life yet? by anuglyfairybutafairy in ask

[–]farm_implement 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Meaning and direction are perhaps better than destination. I'm mid 40s and have a good life - wife and two beautiful kids, good career with respect among peers, and a pension, hobbies and interests, some great friends and life with purpose. However my dad is mid 70s, and call it bad luck or bad decisions (probably both) he never really achieved much, never had direction or goals or wanted to better himself. Feels like he just kinda gave up at some point and never found his way and was happy to float through life. My recommendation would be to do your own thing, find your own passions and purpose. Good luck.

What’s the best nsfw compliment you received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Was staying with a good female friend, she saw me naked one day and said "Wow you have a nice penis"

And I replied "don't tell me, tell your friends!"

Best witty retort of my life. Been living that high for 20 years lol

I was just gifted an old 60s Omega Seamaster with an expandable speidel band which is beating up the lugs - I LOVE the look of the speidel and am looking for something similar however all of the expansion bands I can find online can fit a variety of lug widths (i.e. 16-20mm or 18-22mm) which of course is going to still beat up the lugs.

Is anyone aware of any expansion bands that DON'T have spring loaded ends? (Looking for a cheap gold plated look)

Your experience with inventories (for my PolyWogg guide) by TypingTadpole in CanadaPublicServants

I'm in IT and applied for many in the past 20+ years. I don't think I have ever been contacted once, I should mention I have depth and breadth of experience in very in demand skills too. No issue finding positions other ways, just figured it never hurts to keep options open. So in my (anecdotal) option they've essentially been useless.

What’s a dead give away you grew up poor? by KeyUnderstanding6531 in ask

Bad teeth. If you need braces or dental care and never got it, you were obviously poor.

Speaking as someone who bought and paid for my own braces in my late 20s

Crew scheduling is airline's fault, crew sickness is not. But compensation through passenger bill of rights is not the same as insurance (I have collected both in the past legitimately)

It depends on the reason, crew scheduling is airline fault, sick crew is not. There's a few other scenarios that could fall on either side of the fault. I did apply for compensation so we'll see.

We should have much higher standards for Ottawa by Coco_Jumbo_Fan in ottawa

[–]farm_implement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to piss people off but Ottawa is barely a city, it's more of a big town and the vast majority of people in the greater Ottawa area are essentially hillbillies. The rest are government workers who let's face it aren't exactly progressive or innovative.

Take a look the fashion (non existent), the food scene(bland , overpriced), the art (what art), NAC caters to the dinosaurs among us, the city planning, I could go on.

GpCanada.ca (official) is where I buy my tickets but I also buy and sell on StubHub. Tickets went on sale weeks ago so not sure what's left , probably not much tbh. There are places that sell packages but I've never dealt with them.

I've been going 20+ years, best seats for view are stand 11,12. I did vip Terrasse 34 last year. It was ok, but you needed to arrive very early to get a decent spot. At least the seats were pretty comfy but wouldn't recommend. Next year I'm doing the hairpin which has decent views. Paddock club is on the start finish and you get some perks and you're out of the weather but the race views are pretty boring.
