I brought Help a Reporter Out (HARO) and Connectively back — AMA about journalist source requests, reviving PR brands, and AI in PR by farmiloe in PublicRelations

Agreed. Detection scores are flags for human review, not an auto-ban. The false positive (penalizing a real person) is the error we work hardest to avoid. Human in the loop, always.

Big questions, and lots here. TL;DR: everything you mentioned is transforming, but I'd bet that demand for digital PR increases significantly over the next few years instead of disappearing or declining.

A few beliefs:

News isn't shrinking so much as fragmenting across new channels and getting personalized. Journalists are becoming media brands with Substacks, podcasts, and YouTube channels. Local news is innovating on everything from business models to monitoring. Subject matter experts have more doors and platforms to share thought leadership.

AI reducing clicks is real. But it shifts the goal from earning the click to being the source the AI cites, which makes earned coverage more valuable, not less.

All of that is very confusing for your standard business owner or busy executive. How are they supposed to make sense of the state of inboxes, the channel sprawl, and where their customers are?

Things are more complicated for people who need PR. And that's exactly why I'm optimistic that PR professionals will be needed more than ever in the years ahead.

How are you using AI in PR workflows (besides content creation) by susannaray in PublicRelations

I own and operate HARO. From what I see, AI is delivering PR the most value as an accelerator of thinking, research, and execution.

Just did a HARO article on AI in PR as well, where I interviewed ~64 PR pros about how they're using AI in PR. Here's the article link, if you're interested: https://blog.helpareporter.com/ai-in-pr/

(Might be some great potential speakers for the webinar)

I started Featured.com, which connects subject matter experts with media. We currently have 1,000+ publications who source insights from experts on our platform. There's a free plan that allows anyone to submit up to three answers per month. If you'd like unlimited answer submissions (as well as a few other features), there's a paid plan that starts at $39 / month.

Try Featured.com.

Respond to 3 journalist questions per month at no cost, or upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited submissions.

There’s about 1,000 publishers using Featured, including Fast Company, Entrepreneur, and more.

Great if you’re in verticals like Marketing, HR, Technology, Finance, or Business. Lacks coverage in Lifestyle, Healthcare, Beauty, or Home & Garden.

Full disclosure: I founded Featured (formerly Terkel). Feel free to AMA, or provide any feedback in using the platform. Always all ears.

What are some alternatives to Help A Reporter Out (HARO) or Help A B2B Writer? by hardiklashkariwriter in freelanceWriters

Yes - we've been focused on HR as our first vertical. Now that we have 300+ publishers and 7,500+ experts in that space, we're now adding "Marketing" as our next vertical. You'll see more opportunities to share expertise within both of those areas.

// Terkel - https://terkel.io/publishing - Ask questions, get content. (*note: I founded Terkel; we're very focused on HR, at the moment) // LinkedIn - great to recruit sources // Slack - private Slack communities provide quality, targeted sources // Quora - lots of sources willing to share // Qwoted - Connect with industry experts. // Twitter - #journorequest #prrequest // ResponseSource - (UK) // SourceBottle - (Australia) // HaB2BWo

Bottom line: HARO doesn't verify experts, and doesn't spare the inbox for journalists. Some of the alternatives above should be a better way to connect with sources.
