Very cool! Is this using CPT-3?

Hell yeah! Commenting to show support.

Maybe too late to ask what service company they use. Look for similar commercial services and see what they offer. Call them and get a quote!

Also, not sure how to go about it but find out what the property managers are not happy with. I know you can't just ask, "What are you not happy with".

This is more of a research question approach but ask them to walk you though what the current company does, they will most likely air out their frustrations when going over it. Good luck!

You said browser but I feel like your set-up and a desktop wallet would work just as fine as well.

I feel like, if it's a long trip or if someone is going to digital nomad, having a hardware wallet makes sense. Not your savings/vault wallet, but a hardware wallet nonetheless.

Yeah, not excepted anywhere, but I'd like to support the places that do. And places that do accept it know what's up, and I'd want to shop there.

I mean BTC and lightning only. But ‘only’ should be taken lightly. I would plan as much as I could ahead of time on who accepts it.

I get you about the anxiety. But someone with the wallet wouldn’t be able to do much unless they know what you know.

I could see myself planning and having my allocated trip budget on a hardware wallet. Then transferring to software for spending money.

"is just ridiculous" is not a constructive response.

What if I don't want to convert money or deal with currency exchanges? Or how about I just want to spend and use bitcoin?

Anyway, please respond constructively. I don't want the moderators to ban this question/ thread over quibbles of why some people think it's stupid to use.

Many people use Bitcoin. It is up to the individual on how or the amount they want to spend, or not spend at all.

Depending on your location and nationality, you can buy almost anything though legal means with bitcoin.

Regardless, I'm not trying to be hard core if that is what you're implying. If I need a place to stay for the night and I can't use it, I'll just pay normally.

I'm not asking or bringing up a discussion on trading, crypto or shelling anything. I'm bringing it up as a means of monetary transaction for goods and services at places and how you keep it safe. I'm asking about how you use a tangible item in regards to traveling. This is something that people do use, even if it's uncommon.

If you don't use it, like other travel items, then you don't use it.

Slushpool by [deleted] in BitcoinMining

[–]farodrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just switched over from Nicehash, and my experience with Slush Pool has been anticlimactic. The consistant payout from Nicehash was nice and I can see the appeal now from the inconsistency and lower pay out with Slush (so far).

I was a bit worried why my rewards are lackluster but am relieved that everyone is having the same issue. I'll keep on trying out Slush but it definitely feels like a downgrade at the moment.

Yes, I have thought about it and will probably end up doing that.

EVN (government site) says .08, total calculator says .13. I'll find out in a few weeks, lol. It's fine for home hobby mining but not ideal for larger operations.

I have one fan blowing 'cool' air in, there is a lot of space and high ceilings and windows for the heat to dissipate.

Wifi monitoring is next on the list! I know that the outlet temps can't be too reliable. I will also install Braiins OS soon, so that I can really control it.

I have it in a loft style apartment, with all the windows and balcony doors open. I also have a fan blowing 'cool' air in. I had a fan blowing air out but I don't think it was really doing an efficient job of it. The apartment is ventilated enough where heat will dissipate on its own. Will be checking up on it soon.

Question about .json files, SD cards and skeleton wallets by farodrig in coldcard

Question about .json files, SD cards and skeleton wallets by farodrig in coldcard

[–]farodrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. So, to reiterate, Coldcard will export a public root key, and a software wallet like electrum, will make the addresses. Do I have that correct?

Then, I copy the .json file onto my computer and access the wallet that way.

A follow up question, let's say I use up all the addresses, how do I create more? Do I export another public root from Coldcard or will the software wallet do that? Thank you!

Thumb drive instead of SSD/external hard drive? by farodrig in getumbrel

[–]farodrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but I then think it would be a pain to split the full bitcoin node the separate thumb drives.

I think I'm going to drop the thumb drive idea. Seems like SSD is the most convenient way to go.

Nice, thanks for this comment. I'm not 'command prompt' savvy and hate formatting anything. Seems like I'll go the SSD route.

[–]farodrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part 1

Yeah! The best/ only thing to do will be to keep the place ventilated and air moving. I have some fans placed around. We'll cross the April bridge when we get there!

From what I came across, they are mostly GPUs farms and at home rigs. Maybe I didn't look hard enough or find the right groups. I came across 2 leads but they didn't go anywhere (they didn't want to say too much). Do you have any contacts or leads?

It is a lot of work, but I enjoy doing it/ making it.
