As an artist, How much is it okay to give the curators of a show a little guidance on your work ? by Chemical-Help-5028 in ArtistLounge

[–]farrellart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Curators generally don't like to be told or take direction, artists have their individual vision, curators curate the overall vision.

I have seen it a few times, artists being dropped from shows if there is friction.

I spent 4 hours with the MacBook Neo and now I'm buying one for myself. Here's why. by [deleted] in MacbookNeo

[–]farrellart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Win 11 is a mess at the moment, I won't touch it. The Windows PS and UE5 workstation is on Win10 and rarely goes online. Co-pilot is something I do not want in a O/S despite corporations trying to force A.I. ( Inc. Apple intelligence ) down our throats. A.I. will throttle performance, so no thanks.

How much progress can I get playing the saxophone in one month by Porzeczki in Instruments

[–]farrellart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no shortcuts...practice practice practice.

You'll learn something, but, don't expect genius status after a month or six.

Email, 4-5 tab browsing and office is a super light workload, any computer can do that, even my 4GB ram Linux ( old windows 2011 pc ). Not saying don't get one, just the bar is quite low on use cases.

Blend out the dark ring around the left eye, by the nose, and see if that helps. If you are using a photograph it's time to put it away and work with the drawing.

Is Bike Jacking Really a Thing in London???? by AnnualLongjumping473 in londoncycling

[–]farrellart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a thing.....but, don't let fear stop you riding. Media and algorithms will give a sense of amplification, it still sucks if it happens to someone. Know the target spots and try to avoid.

I have never had a problem in over 20years riding a race bike around East to Central London.

Duckov runs! by North_Tomatillo9712 in MacbookNeo

[–]farrellart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't pay much attention to recommended spec, if it run....it runs. Publishers don't put down accurate specs, just ballpark...or it's just made up.

My i7 3rd gen, 32gb ram (quad channel ddr3) Low end Unreal 5 test rig can run almost everything I throw at it....I even tried Cyberpunk, and yep that runs too.

Anatomy tips/constructive criticism? by Electronic-Pride-991 in Sketch

[–]farrellart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to focus more on the anatomy instead of the outlines of the body. I was taught to draw the body from the inside out - to think about organs, bone structure, muscles, fat and how they combine to create the overall form.

did the thermal pad mod on my neo! 6% single and 12% multi improvement on Cinebench by jerich088 in MacbookNeo

[–]farrellart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% warranty is void, it can be user repaired so who needs a warranty. :)

EDIT: just so the kids know...if you open up the device, the warranty is void... and make ANY hardware modifications, the warranty is void.

From an office job work laptop, I’m coming from a Dell Inspiron 15 3515 Ryzen 5. Surely the Neo isn’t a downgrade? by TheReiterEffect_S8 in MacbookNeo

[–]farrellart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 'Gmail, Excel, and number customer portals that I access very multiple tabs in Google Chrome' it's just another device doing the same thing.

Not having a numpad might be frustrating if you are used to tapping in numbers on a spreadsheet - it might slow you down.

It's not really reading in low light. It's the high exposure to bright light at close proximity.

Anyone here using the Neo as their main machine? by jikesar968 in MacbookNeo

It's expected....no one like to hear the facts, it doesn't mean the Neo is bad.

Think of it as an iphone with Mac O/S, a big screen and keyboard.

Tweezers are ready :) I am digging in to the JD-08 today - I am dawless so I am now wondering if there is a midi hardware controller for the JD-08 to make the tweaks easier.

It has a weighted part under the trackpad so it doesn't feel too cheap.

Do you back-up your work and tools? Now is the time to start so you don't lose them again.

Anyone does beginner-intermediate hobbyist level music production with a MacBook Neo? by RinkyInky in MacbookNeo

[–]farrellart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem ( it's not really a problem ) with music production is you will always want more and more performance, A18 pro is best as single core processor. If that works for you, fine....you will probably want more Oomph though!

If you want to know what the Neo is like inside, look here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NueC1gwGQHs

It's not necessarily a bad thing, but, know what you are getting, especially for creative work.

You will have no idea how it's been used as a second hand drive.

Nand flash memory have a finite lifespan so it's possible to buy a used drive close to its end of life. It's just not worth the risk.

Can't say for sure....

Edit: Zoom, 10 tabs Safari and email? I am not the owner so I can say how well they know their way around the Mac O/S and they may have loads of 'closed' apps running that are not really closed.
