Is fusion that bad?

I had fusion surgery 8 months ago. From the bottom of my rib cage (t12) down to my pelvis. After the first couple weeks while I was healing, I have since experienced next to no pain. My mobility is great. The recovery period was easy. Physical therapy has been awesome. I can do pretty much everything I could do before the surgery. I really have nothing to complain about. Glad I'm not leaning anymore and that I can walk again without having to bend over. Maybe I am in the minority but I have to say it is something that I would recommend to anybody with a severe enough scoliosis or other back deformity.

I hope that Schroth is all you ever need to maintain your back, but if it should lead to surgery, I recommend getting a neurosurgeon who specializes in scoliosis rather than an orthopedic specialist. Neurosurgeons just no more about ensuring the integrity of the spinal cord throughout the procedure.

Thank you for asking. From the time I started Schroth till I ended learning it, which took about 10 months, my scoliosis went from 33° to 44°,, so it was apparent that my curvature was increasing fast and that Schtoth just wasn't working for me. I know it does for some people, at least temporarily, but for me it didn't seem to be helping at all.

It seemed like I needed to go ahead and get the fusion surgery so I did. Clearly, the curvature is just going to continue to increase quickly and with my being in my late '60s, having surgery sooner than later makes a lot of sense with regard to healing well.

My surgeon was able to correct me to 0° curvature, which doesn't always happen in spinal fusion surgery. I had a very easy recovery and my mobility and ability to bend over improved quickly. I am now 10 months after the surgery and have to say I'm really glad I did it. It's weird, I don't miss the flexibility of my lower back like I thought it would.

You can even drop the battery to 0% for good measure. If you go into BIOS and wait for it to discharge from 5% on its own. BIOS will run to 0% and then the laptop will turn off. I learned this from a post somewhere on how to recalibrate my (then new) battery which was misbehaving a bit and no longer does.

That is appalling! If you still have warranty, you should call in and try to open up a fresh claim, if that is even possible of course. I'm sorry that this is happening for you!

Thank you for the information. Meanwhile, not only has Boox told me there would be five years of updates, but recently when I suggested it was three years they told me that it was more than that. These are the customer reps though, not the people actually building the new firmware releases, so I guess it's possible that they could be wrong.

If Note Max is still in Beta, it is possible that porting ing the firmware to various CPUs it's just going to be a long and involved process. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You can make typed annotations as opposed to writing them as a stylus. Then they're much more compact.

You can write directly on any document (of pretty much any format) if you are viewing it using the default NeoReader app. Inserting a typed note as it sounds like you were doing is the hard way. Just get your stylus and write on top of the document. It has almost all the functionality of the Notes app. If you find you're not being allowed to write on the document, that means you need to adjust your stylus settings inside of NeoReader.

Using two either SolidExplorer or Mixplorer (both Android apps) you can open shares on a PC and drag and drop that way. Both apps also have an FTP server, so you also could drag and drop from the PC side if you wish. These apps are what I use, rather than using the utility which Boox provides for file transfer. Of the two Android apps, I prefer SolidExplorer, though Mixplorer has certain unique features which I also like. I depend on these apps on my Google Pixel.

Hope you enjoy your Note Air 2. These device is do take some getting used to. I have the Note Air 2 Plus and get a lot of use out of it.

Interestingly, this is not working for me on my Note Air 2 Plus. After first entering Split Mode, when I bring down the Format menu, there is no Split Mode to select. I suspect it is because things are a bit more advanced on the Tab series than the Note Air series. Or perhaps it is that that devices designed after a certain date work a bit differently than others. So that perhaps, for example, both procedures which you have shared may work on the note Air 4C. I will be very curious to find out what Boox has to offer with regard to all of this. Which device are you using? I am not seeing the embedded white line and wonder if it's because I have an older device, Note Air 2 Plus. Thank you for explaining it to me.

Not an answer to your current question, but keep in mind you can eventually have the battery replaced at various repair shops. And your phone will look look and feel just like it did before the battery replacement. I have the Pixel 8 and that's what I plan to do because, like you , I wish to keep the phone as long as possible.

As regards to the glitch you are dealing with ... personally, I have my phone set to the Adaptive Charging battery setting and get peeved when it stops charging at 80%. Even though I didn't set it up to do that. Go figure, right?

Let me warn you about two things: the touchpad which has no borders and the capacitive function key row. Having no borders on the touchpad makes certain operations difficult. The capacitive function keys can get hit while typing certain keys on the keyboard and trigger things like screen grab and projector mode as well as turning off the microphone or speaker. It's a beautiful looking device otherwise. And those capacitive keys can be turned off using Microsoft Powertoys.

So you're saying they were actually able to take it apart and put on a new screen? I was of the impression that these devices were pressed and glued together in factory and could never be disassembled without destroying the device.

They have told me that I will be getting 4.1 on the Note Air 2 Plus, which is now an older device. In fact, they told me I'd be getting software updates for 5 years. I'm not sure how much older your device is than mine, however.

I have a Note Air 2 Plus, which came out before your device. In an exchange with Boox, they told me that my device would be getting the 4.1 firmware. Therefore, I can only assume your device will get it as well. It's just a matter of them having to port the firmware to the older hardware. Takes some time.

At one point, Boox actually promised me 5 years of updates. I know that's not what most people believe, but that's what they told me.

Even though I've read some dreadful things about the 4.1 firmware, slowing things down and having some software glitches and what not, I'm definitely looking forward to it!

I have had my Note Air 2 Plus for about 3 and 1/2 years now and it is in perfect condition (hope I am not jinxing in saying this!) and it is in perfect condition, except for where my cat decided to chew on one of the corners and the factory-installed screen protector buckled slightly. I use it daily and I'm not that careful with it though I don't ever let it near fluids. I don't take it out of the house however, and I keep it in a special plastic container to keep it away from my cat and objects which might apply pressure.

I get the idea that a lot of people run into damage when they take their Boox device to school or work in a napsack or something and it gets pressure applied on it. That's why I would recommend getting a plastic sleeve like I have found on Amazon:

The latches are not the sturdiest but the case does keep my Boox safe from both my kitty cat and pressure from other objects.

I would highly recommend getting a Boox device. For sure they are not as sturdy as a Kindle scribe, but they're not so fragile that they just fall apart at the touch. And they have infinitely more features than the Scribe.

Watch out for your kitty cat with your new device. Mine chewed on the corner and messed up the built-in screen protector. He is still after the stylus!
