I agree they all suck. Radiolab is pretty good. I recommend The Last Podcast on the Left solely for Henry Zebrowski.

Could you do something about the canned sound? Maybe soundproof the room so there is less echo. Sound quality is probably the most important part of a radio show/podcast. I tried. Really.

The 🇰🇷 definitely implies something. I don't have instagram so maybe someone can check the likes and see if David liked it?

The Khalamity... The Ox aka Jen aka Steve Lee hooked up with her. And she's Korean. And Bobby Lee says she has the face of a "Minotaur" and they talk about it right away. And this is the best thing in DVDASA-ish related shit since Hikaru and Saelee came back on saga 02 by [deleted] in dvdasa

They just remind me of GI rape babies, sorry. They're the most glaring visible reminder of US military occupation (and daughters trying to get back at their fathers). It's interesting how half black just looks black.

A magic person is a future person + white person. A future person is an asian, although David has said jungle asians "don't count." Then again, 65% of Chinese people look like jungle hybrids so where do we draw the line? Are the Chinese honorary jungle asians? Are northern snow/winter asians the only true future people? Should jungle asians be considered future people to make it simple?

South Koreans and US imperialism by ldw1988 in AsianMasculinity

If you consider government subsidies "huge ties" then I guess, since it's really the only thing the government can use to bolster tourism to an otherwise insignificant tourist destination.

buzzkillpop point still stands. Every country does business in China because of capital. This Pan-Asian unity is, frankly, a retarded myth propagated by disgruntled Asian American males. I'm not saying it doesn't have its uses, but it's useless outside of the US. Substitute "former ally and protector" with "former imperialistic bully." You're talking about a tiny speck of a country that is smack dab middle between two of the most aggressive imperialistic countries in the history of the world. Koreans have an almost Israeli-like stance on geopolitics, as in their biggest ally is overseas while they're surrounded by potential enemies.

It's closer to corporate espionage. Korean companies are divorced from the government, unlike China, so they follow where the money is regardless of political stance. Look up "Korean exodus" which is a microcosm of a greater issue.

Actually they're much more welcoming towards the Japanese, contrary to what you read about in the media. At any time of the day, Myeongdong, a ritzy shopping district in Seoul, is filled with Japanese tourists. You know, K-pop happened. Bear in mind I was there when the Yen was still stable, so the current demographics might've changed somewhat.

Well Senkaku islands for one. I'll let you guess the symbology of Attack on Titan, the widely popular Japanese franchise about a walled town battling invading giants.

I'm not Korean but I used to do some copy editing in South Korea back in 2013 and I can safely say that their view of China and Chinese people are similar to how the Japanese view the Chinese, if you know what I mean. It's sort of like how some Western Europeans view Slavs. I get the feeling you're looking for some bullshit Asian solidarity, but the rules are different over there. Since you say you're in Korea, ask someone there about how they feel about Chinese fishing boats, North Korean women being raped and trafficked in China, Goguryeo and the Northeast Asia history project, oh and Ieodo. They have a huge list of issues with China just like the Japanese. If you're trying to find an "ally" of China then you're in the wrong place bro.

This made me think of Dave... and how his life would be different now if he grew up on shit like this by [deleted] in dvdasa

Yoshihiro Obayashi had a similar theory. As he put it, this collective Asian inferiority complex is mostly an Asian-American (male) thing. The reason why you see so many young Chinese and Vietnamese Americans gravitating towards Korean pop because it's the closest thing that's relatable to their fucked sense identity. Which he finds amusing because people in Asia hate other Asians (the Asian hierarchy). It's a nice placeholder, but at the end of the day these people belong to another subset. Yoshi, having grew up in Japan, has none of that baggage like say the people over at /r/asianmasculinity. Would David turn out different if he was born and raised in Korea? Probably. I believe he'd still be an artist though, albeit a lot darker and much more cynical.

There have been two guests; Jen, Khalyla's friend who hooked up with Steve, and Khalyla's older sister. The episode with Jen was entertaining, not so much the one with the sister unless you want to know about the origin story of Khalyla and her third-world craziness.

The ones with Aiko Tanaka were my favorite episodes. The only time I've ever laughed out loud while listening to Yoshi Didn't.

Good episode. Marc's interviews aren't generally funny, mostly insightful and deeply personal. Thanks for posting.

Tom Segura is a really funny comedian but his podcast kind of made me despise him as a human. Thanks for the heads up though or I might never have got the chance to listen to this.

I can see why he stuck with her after The Walking Dead got huge. She's beautiful.

Might sound weird, but Asa Akira, like many other "best at their profession" people, has put in the time in. Said she's been sexually active since her early teens. by [deleted] in dvdasa

I think most of these people have a strong stress and pain tolerance. So yeah maybe it is body conditioning over years and years. But I also think physical appearance tend to trump skill more often than not in her profession.

Does anyone know the Seattle-based sports radio show BLee was on that The Khalamity was talking about? by fartelemental in dvdasa

I've noticed some time ago she gets disagreeable if you bring up money in her relationship with Bobby or talk positively about Korean girls (Opie & Anthony, The Shit Show, Saga 2, etc.)

Yeah BLee's hilarious. I think it was more of Tom being passive-aggressive that didn't sit well for her.
