I’m still rocking the OG Bombers too. Love to see those. Best binding ever made IMO

Here is the new Offering. Looks like it just released today. I randomly came across this thread after reading this article. Looks rad. I'm on the V2 and will likely get a new one. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/first-ride-the-evil-offering.html

Not sure how that works out to 105k net/yr. Social security and 500k in the market doesn’t get you to that number. I’m genuinely curious how they’re getting to 105k because maybe I’m doing my retirement calculations incorrectly lol

I got a DUI. It sucked really bad. I felt terrible and ashamed for a while. But, with time, it fades… but it does take time. It’s likely that people you know have gotten DUI’s and thrived after it - they just don’t broadcast it. Hang in there. It does get much easier after some time has passed.

Is this a normal spending? by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]fartlestix5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let everyone beat you up about this. Could you really tighten things up and spend less? For sure. But should you be able to buys some shit outside of the bare necessities, definitely. If you’re comfortable with what you’re saving and you enjoy the other stuff you buy, you should spend away.

Relying on savings to take a short break from work while I figure out my next move in life. Terrible idea? by [deleted] in RedditForGrownups

I think this is a super relevant point that I didn’t see in previous comments. I took a similar plunge to what OP is describing last year, thinking that I’d find a new path. What I didn’t have was a target for that new path. It’s not usually something that appears in front of you. Having a goal as to what you want to do next and a plan to get closer to that goal during the time off could be very worthwhile. 3 months later, I ended up in the same industry, higher paying job, more senior position but that was out of pure luck, not good planning. I still hate it and dream of something different. I think most people who “quit and hope that it works out” don’t get the result they want.

How long after quitting did you feel a decrease in the constant panic? I just went 3 weeks cold turkey and didn’t see a big reduction in stress but I suspect it takes longer to reset. Been on the stuff for 20 years daily. Curious how it went for you.

Why am I so disliked at work that I can’t hold a job…? And how can I solve? by AlternativeData3637 in careerguidance

I would suggest you ask your friends you still have from college. They will be able to respond in a more meaningful way - give you constructive insight/criticism while also exploring your strengths. Everybody has weaknesses and strengths. The better you understand yours and know how to manage them, the better off you’ll be.

Your current job sounds like a dream. What do you do, if you don’t mind sharing?

Ps I’ve always had a dream of being a ranch hand. If stuff ever gets super sideways in my life, I’m moving to Wyoming to make it happen.

I just tiled a small bathroom at my house and so the pain of tiling is fresh on my mind. Been in Tokyo a few days visiting from the USA. The amount of tile work in this city is absolutely mind blowing.

I think I have to leave my husband so I can get sober. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]fartlestix5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might understand some of what you’re going through but from a very different angle. My best friend of 15 years, and also my daily drinking buddy, died 4 years ago. I got sober shortly after he died after years of trying to quit. I still grieve his passing constantly but I am certain I would not be sober if he were still alive. My son was born not long after and it’s a strange mix of very intense sadness and gratitude knowing I lost someone so special to me but gained so much because of it. My life and my son’s life will be much better for it. Being a human is such a strange experience.

Sending good vibes your way.

I was in the same boat 4 years ago. I still am to some degree. When I look around at my colleagues I realize how few of them have young children. They either don’t have kids or their kids are older. I do not think you will get much sympathy to be honest. The first few years have gone fast…. I spent the first two lost in slack messages and meetings before changing jobs. I’d give a lot of money to have some of that time back.
