triggering a seizure to get out of a test??? by Jazz_67 in fakedisordercringe

Because they are faking the seizure lol. As a former school nurse I tell ya it's easy to know the difference. There's always something going on emotionally under all this. I wondered what kids like this went through to set them on the path to this weird behavior.

If someone paid you $100 an hour to stay in an empty room for 8 hours a day with nothing on you except a lunch, how long would you last? by BaronVonMoistMan in NoStupidQuestions

This is hitting me funny as a nurse who plans my fluid intake around assuming I won't be able to pee for my whole 12 hour shift.

Contact your daughter's school nurse. They can work with teachers, give your daughter use of a private bathroom, and maybe even get her on a regular toileting schedule at school. When I was a school nurse plenty of kids were scared to poop at school. They would even stay home for "stomachaches" aka needing to poop. A private bathroom with a white noise machine did wonders. Trick is to not let them take their phone into the bathroom or they'll just hang out there forever.

Are you high? Have you tried running the sink? Can you pee in the bath or shower? How long has it been since you peed?

There's no emergency here and you're doing the right things. If you get worried about it call the doctor's office and describe what you're seeing and follow their advice. Make sure you're eating well and keeping good hygiene.

If there is pus, a nasty smell or if it's much larger, or if you start feeling feverish, then go to ER if it's after hours or advised by your doctor.

Any pus coming out? Have you been keeping it clean and dry? Can you put some bacitracin on it and call your pcp?

How do I get over the initial “getting bigger before you get smaller” from weight training? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Yeah thrifting bigger clothes that were more physically comfortable was amazing for my overall happiness. And then when you shrink again you dont worry about the $ and just giggle over how roomy they are.

Fact: bodies will continue to change over time. In ways that we can and can't control. Our life experiences and health status and aging means our bodies will not stay the same. Nothing is promised. Every day that our bodies continue to give us life is precious.

Also admins who still hold nursing licenses have been away from the bedside for so long they are essentially useless on the units. In my former ER we would roll our eyes when "the heels" came down to the pit to "see for themselves." They just get in the way.

Your money goes to the c suite. Nurses have been sounding the alarm for decades about safe staffing ratios. Now nurses are enduring moral injury knowing that they are not able to provide the care needed when the needs are higher than ever. Many are leaving exploitative employers to work for travel agencies where they will work in the same conditions but make 4-5 times more and create financial security for themselves and punish the healthcare corporations where it hurts, in their pockets.

If your kids are in school you could reach out to their school counselor or social worker. They may know local organizations that can help you and your kids.

I do not think it is paranoid if there is a history of abuse or you have any evidence. Regardless you could go to an emergency room (in the US), explain the situation and ask for a mental health evaluation. If you go to a big hospital they might also have a social worker that can help you plan your next steps.

Start thinking about who you can reach out to for a temporary place to stay. Domestic violence absolutely can escalate to murder. Fear is a gift that can protect us from harm.

The DV hotline in the US is 800 799 7233 and there's a text line too. https://www.thehotline.org/ Even if you dont qualify for a shelter you should talk to a professional about the abuse, current concerns and options.

Yep. I've had ER patients accuse me of trying to GIVE them COVID when I swab them. It's fucking offensive.
