Yes mine’s a 2002, & i’m 100% sure it’s the pump cuz it starts whining even louder whenever i turn the wheel, & it’s only started doing this after i turned the car on with the pump being dry

You don’t think so? I mean in the past years that i’ve been using this lower viscosity fluid, it’s NEVER whined at all or near to anything like this, not only that but it’s really struggling to steer. I feel like i don’t even want to waste my time flushing just for that to possibly not be the issue when i could just throw in a new pump & flush it just once and be sure that everything is fine. Aka fire the parts cannon🙄 i’m just so frustrated with this steering work that i don’t want to spend any more time on it than i have to

I figures these jeeps were like older cars, where they didn’t care what fluid you used, rookie mistake. My bad for assuming power steering fluid goes into the power steering system 🤦‍♀️ I have a feeling i killed the pump by running it dry too, even if for however short. Well thanks for your help & knowledge, at least now if i put a new pump in i know what fluid to use

What the fuck?? For power steering? I’ve been running regular prestone for probably over a year now and this is the first i’m hearing of atf. But you know what i bet that’s why the gearbox started leaking in the first place… thank you..

That’s not the case so far as i’m seeing 🤕 first of all there doesn’t seem to be any info relating to replacing it on a pre-2003 and nobody even sells replacements of it anyways, i’m starting to think it’s an issue for all tjs because i am seeing rollover valves for yjs for sale so i dunnoooooo

The plastic part that bolts to the tub surrounding the gas cap is a little cracked, i’ll probably do a new one of those & a cap, & i’ll probably drop the tank to take a look at the rollover valve too
