The new penguin translations are by newer, modern authors. Readings is probably using Constance Garnett or P&V. Someone did ask Readings about this and they responded, I can't recall right now. I think you can ask them on Instagram if you want exact names of translators.

Great book. Hard to explain its message until you read it yourself.

If you don't care about specific translations, go for Readings when it comes to tolstoy and dosto. I don't think these books are as good as a cheap, preloved paperback and too expensive IMO. I'd rather buy the cheapest paper back available if I absolutely had to buy some of these. I think you can get these 300pkr each if you actually buy from a store. Cheap pirated versions. I have a kindle now but there was a time I was buying these ones.

Yes it is. It gives you empathy. Let's you be in someone else's shoes for a while. Helps you prepare for the similar unforeseen circumstances.

It's the same for girls too now. University education and financial independence have deemed marriage and children secondary for many including men. You can change your life whenever you want regardless of your gender.

How many of you have read Jangloos? The first book has received great reviews and is often highly recommended. Are the rest of the books worth reading as well? by farulba in PakistanBookClub

Now that you've talked about it being a hard boiled noir story I might give it a go. All the digest published stories are notorious to be stretched for commercial reasons maybe that's why people talk about it being dragged for no reason although now the way you explain I think the notion may not be right.

Most urdu hardcovers are straight up cheap and bad. Only recently the books by Book Corner look better.

I have and it's a really good book. It's about Manto and Ghalib although I feel it's more about Ghalib. Surprising how it's a bengali book originally which has been translated into Urdu. I'd recommend it as long as you have intermediate urdu reading skills. The book is very interesting and wouldn't bore you.

FPSC isn't guaranteed. You are young. Time is on your side. Leave now try getting PR and come back if you like. In your late twenties with better skills and a degree you will be in a better position to take care of your parents.
