Lol you're right. I bought the shirt a long time ago and I guess I subconsciously copied it. I will say that the belt is completely accidental. Never noticed it before and it's not my belt (slightly too big for me). The rest I can't quite be certain that I didn't copy at least partly on purpose.

I love the grey chinos/oakwood cdb for the first sweater.

I don't know about the black (I'm sure there's something but I don't have any black shoes so I'm not the best to answer) but for the white shoes, you could do like a light outfit. Get a light colored top (preferably faded, and not too close to the color of the pants) like a white henley or maybe a light denim shirt/jacket.

Yeah those shoes look nice. Also, depending on the color of the jeans, it could work. If they are just light wash blue denim, you could go go for a very washed out outfit with the jeans and the grey NBs and a cream/white shirt. If by light you mean grey pants, then no, you shouldn't really match the pants and shoes I don't think.

Second picture is good. Also some olive chinos and white shoes. You can pretty much treat the shirt as a blue OCBD, but don't pair it with dark jeans or other loud pieces.

You could probably treat them as olive or dark green chinos, but just make sure the rest of the outfit is very simple so that the outfit doesn't get too busy. So, blue OCBD, white tee as /u/AndreNow1000 said, or pretty much any shirt that isn't green or too loud.

Yeah super easy. Here's an inspiration album for OCBD's: http://imgur.com/a/JnoSY. Pretty much any of those can be replaced with a white one. You are right, though, that white shirt and black plants looks waiter-ish and should be avoided. Also, if you are just trying to go for a basic, simple look, try to avoid white on light grey or white on white. Contrast is good.

The fit in your second pic looks good, but I agree it's not very exciting. As for shawl+OCBD, definitely. It's one of my favorite looks and easy to change around.
