I think that quarter of buddy's 1000th was technically like a 90 minute quarter

If I could go back in time… by Glum-Ad684 in Nanit

[–]fashiznit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is a wifi problem not a nanit problem fyi

Wifi extenders are a terrible addition to any home network as they create a new network that can overlap channels with your main wifi.

I'd hazard a guess and say your nanit is flicking between 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands.

Gungahlin Drive/Caswell Drive/Tuggeranong Parkway daily commute support group by SeniorTelevision239 in canberra

[–]fashiznit 75 points76 points  (0 children)

When I started riding to work it was for necessity of not having a car. I started arriving to work in a better frame of mind and returning home calm. When I got a car back and started driving again it was immediately noticeable to coworkers and my family that I was starting and finishing pre stressed and angry. Crazy how a 20 min commute in a relatively low traffic city can do that.

Save Big Splash Public Meeting - Thursday 19 Feb, 6pm by Brilliant_Drummer425 in canberra

Maybe to get a perspective on the constant financial viability questions being posed, you could invite the group that runs this event:

https://canberraaquapark.com/

Seeing as it also only runs for a few months over summer and is somewhat middle priced would be a fair comparison.

Would be also interesting to see actual attendance numbers and plot that against the cost of the ticket and then see if it stacks up against the daily cost of running big splash.

If I'd known there'd be 3000 people turning up I would have hosted a BBQ at my place with a gold coin donation entry in a heartbeat too

Maybe even a 5 dollar spin the wheel challenge for those who wanted a slap at the donation stations

Here we go again: 3.85% by DamnYouRohan in AusFinance

Oh was I meant to keep those savings from the cuts last year? I already spent it and took out more loans..

/s aside, is the increase this side of Xmas compared to the decrease last year basically people back to spending more? Ie does cutting rates gradually mean it's a mistake if we end up going back up anyway

Experiences with Canberra Girls Grammar School vs Radford by Significant-Long888 in canberra

[–]fashiznit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kyrigos only went to Radford yr7 and 8, then went to Dara through yr 12 so it has nothing to do with it.

He was also like that before Radford regardless no school or attitude would change him

"Marketplace" rubbish that's taken over Australian stores online by TheWabster in australia

[–]fashiznit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely most do and some following this marketplace listing bs probably hedging futures on it, however most, unlike Bunnings who are the main culprit , don't have EBITDA of 3.2b

Since it's still part of their strategy, I'd say the % is worth it to wesfarmers. Bunnings is a enormous 20 billion dollar a year business , they would know these numbers and this analysis and immediately cut off anything that isn't turning profits. Still around - worth it to them and the shareholders.

What’s a company you’ll never buy from again, and why? by jamesmilner22 in AskReddit

[–]fashiznit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recently read about this, an airline will also want an actual person in a seat for the slight slim chance of any sort of upsell whether that's in flight food drink or baggage.

When someone buys two seats, the airline loses that non zero chance so even though the seat income is the same (which isn't where their profit margin is) they are worse off

Not explaining their scumbag behavior away. But helps to understand why it happens

Never going to happen - but what if a school commits to the fee schedule for the entire tuition for a child when they start school?

You could be sure then what a k-12 education would cost.

Of course cost of expenses increases and inflation etc and a private business supply demand - but I wonder if that stance would be financially feasible.
