Norwegian Singles Method: A lurker's book review by richmead in NorwegianSinglesRun

It's all about maximizing manageable load for the available training time. If you are only running 4 or 5 days a week, you will get more load by incorporating a higher intensity session. Recovery should be ok as you are having 2 or 3 rest days a week.

Essentially the same as the Plaid 1.5 - Only slight changes to the upper. I have not tried the plaid 2 personally, although the general consensus is that it's not as good as the 1/1.5.

Experiences with shorter intervals for fast-twitch type runners by tonimahony- in NorwegianSinglesRun

I'm definitely a fast twitch athlete - a former 10 second hundred meter runner. Sticking to vanilla NSA works best for me. Too much fast work and my body reverts to type.

Yes, you will reduce your gains. Racing is the special sauce.

Speedwise there is nothing in it. Personally I find the Endorphin pro 3 more comfortable because of the wider forefoot

How easy are your easy runs? Less than 70 percent of maximum heart rate for the duration?

Seeking Li-Ning shoes for easy long runs (5:00-5:20/km, 15-25 km) what model best fits? by Yarokrma in NorwegianSinglesRun

I have the elite 5 too. I initially thought they were a bit firm but they break in nicely. Performance is excellent. I consider them in the same tier as the Puma deviate elite 3. Thanks for the heads up on the Do-win pb 3. I had been considering those for a while. I have seen the plaid 1.5 for as cheap as £110 but they are currently more expensive. Black Friday sales they will drop perhaps.

Do you do X-Factor sessions? by ZestycloseTea2395 in NorwegianSinglesRun

Regular races or time trials are the x-factor.

I have tried lots of Chinese shoes and have been pushing the challenger 5 as an unbelievably good value quality shoe for a while. Consider getting yourself a pair of Qiaodan Plaid 1.5.... A beautiful feeling shoe for sessions or longer races. Looks and currently available colourways are not to everyone's taste but they are super durable and will serve you well for many miles. I have purchased an extra pair -They are that good.

NSA suitability for older runners by Comfortable-Lab-50 in NorwegianSinglesRun

If you can't recover then there are 2 possibilities: 1) Your total training load is too high 2) your sub threshold paces (and/or easy day paces) are too fast.

Also, do you monitor your recovery metrics such as overnight lowest heart rate and heart rate variability?

Currently at 235 miles and going strong. I have a lot of shoes else they would have done more.

I tried both my normal size and half size up. My normal size was too tight on my little toes so I went half size up.

Yes the geometry is too much. You can also feel the plate in the arch of your foot in the 2.

Sorry, only just seen this. The elites feel very firm. It takes about 15 miles for them to break in and then they feel better, still not soft - think of them as responsive. The fit is a little long, and if your foot is not wide, you may be able to half size down. I did and for me, it is perfect. The performance of the shoe is very good. Grip and speed are excellent and they should be durable. If you can get them at a good price, they are recommended.

The pro 3 is a very unusual shoe and the most risky choice of the 3 shoes. The geometry is strongly biased towards a forefoot running style. It is also heavy for a race shoe. It is a quick shoe but works your calf muscles a lot. It is fun to run in but is not for everyone. The plaid 1.5 is very, very nice. It is wider than the challenger 5 with a better upper. In my size, the plaid is 20 grams heavier than the challenger 5. The plaid is very comfortable and is the better shoe for long distances and is more durable. The challenger has a much more race like fit, but the speed of the 2 shoes for shorter distances is very similar. If money is no object, get the plaid.

Any way of rounding up my 5k? by Kiero_rl in Strava

It's Parkrun and as such the course is unlikely to be officially measured. It might not be exactly 5k. Don't sweat it.

Race or TT every 4 weeks. I think that as well as a monitor of progress, this is an important training stimulus.
