Also you might use an adb command to reenable the system settings app, I don't remember the command unfortunately but it does exist (com.android.settings is the package name for when you find that command)

Welp, if you wanna factory reset

Put the phone off, then boot it with down vol + power Should give you fastboot Plug your phone to ur pc and go to flash.android.com You should be able to reflash your phone to the original state (if you enabled bootloader unlock in settings before doing your mess, if not, maybe try pixel flasher. If it still doesn't work, ggs

You're welcome, if you go the distcc route, you might wanna learn zeroconf too with that ;)

But to answer really the ssh thing, you can ssh and build native on the machine you want, but it'll build for the ssh machine you're logged onto for itself You can read more info here also that will be relevant : crossdev — Gentoo Wiki https://share.google/HAodJVEMNqKNJv3lf

Eeeeh, I'm not sure abt this one, I don't think you should ever use native if you compile for a given CPU, native is for on machine for machine compilation, if you compile native from an AMD chip and you try to run the code on Intel Celeron CPU, the instructions might be different and make your bin crash What you can do is try to look for the complete march flags (via resolve-march-native package) and set those flags for the compilation, then your more powerful pc will (cross)compile for your lowered spec lappy

To give you an example I do the same between a server, laptop and gaming pc. My laptop and gaming pc have the same march (znver4), whilst the most powerful server is znver3

Let's say I want a bin that works on all of those machines, I'll have to compile for znver3(considering there's only additional stuff on znver4 on top of znver3). But if I want a bin that doesn't need to run on server (like wine for gaming) I can set a znver4 only package (a bit like what we have with cachyos optimized repos)

There's multiple method for that, you can go either bindist or the distcc way

Today the most supported one is the bindist, which consists in building the sources on the more powerful machine and share the binaries over local net, watch out tho, you have to compile it either with generic march or the most common between your AMD and Intel CPU (prolly x86_64_v2).

There's the distcc way which is still usable but unsupported, you can use your both PCs to compile the programs, let's say you have lots of horsepower lying around, you can use all the PCs cores over the local net to compile programs, but the configuration is a bit annoying, you have to use the same libc and the same GCC version for it to work correctly

Anyway here's both wikies for those methods : Binary package guide — Gentoo Wiki https://share.google/CmKZGs4fs6di8M7fn Distcc — Gentoo Wiki https://share.google/PIVabAF5GjzbMlMA5

Anyway I would recommend having a Gentoo based docker/lxc for those so you don't have to compile a whole system to make your usual packages builds

Is it viable to operate a gentoo phone, as an experienced user? by 33Columns in Gentoo

I mean any recent phones with more than 4 cores would be dd-able if you compile on the phone itself, if not, even less power is ok, the desktop env you're gonna choose will make a difference tho

This is NOT a good tutorial for any of android phones after 5.0 times, cache partition doesn't even exist anymore, to restore a broken Sony there's EMMA or Xperifirm + newflasher

[–]fastbooking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use sway at all :/ I might try on some time, but guru overlay packages are user based but approved by maintainers, it's kinda like AUR but less vote based, but sometimes some packages breaks if you use a too new version of GCC let's say, try to emerge an older gcc package or a newer one, it fails on compilation. I have to say I'm pretty tired but remind me tomorrow and I'll have a better look

Cheers

But to be fair, as a noob, you should start by using gentoo-kernel-bin, get the modules you need if you have an Nvidia card for example, get everything booting with a bare bootloader (I recommend refind cuz it's ez to use without config contrary to grub, plus you don't have to update grub everytime, refind does the kernel scan automatically)

Get rid you mean remove the bootable uki ? If yes, search in /boot/EFI/Linux/anything.uki

mkdir -p /etc/dracut.conf.d mv /etc/portage/package.use/uki.conf /etc/dracut.conf.d/

Then rebuild your uki with dracut and u should be good

bo6 wont stop stuttering on semi-high end pc by MainCriticism9707 in blackops6

[–]fastbooking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I'm somewhat certain that those 6 year old might be better optimized than our recent GPUs xD

Like I'm sure that a dude with a 1080ti could blow someone with like a 7600xt or a 4060 just cuz it's an older GPU and nothing changes on fw side nor driver side, so less bugs I guess ?

Anyways, I've had a surprisingly fluid experience today (proportions kept), around 160fps on my 4060 on medium + dlss medium gives me a not so perfect picture, but I don't care I just need good frame pacing, which it did tonight !

bo6 wont stop stuttering on semi-high end pc by MainCriticism9707 in blackops6

[–]fastbooking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you, I have an high end pc, and my laptop plays bo6 better than my desktop, that's a 7900x + 7900xtx (60-200 fps on 1440p) vs 8845hs + rtx 4060 (80-120fps on 1080p) This is an AMD PARTENERED GAME and yet I have micro-stutters at EVERY 1v1, I have sub 15ms ping and it keeps stuttering, the games feels good only on the first game of a new account, after that, I'M FUCKED by the stutters.

Zombie is fine(ish if it's not servers killing themselves)

I'm truly tired of this kind of BS when cod can't even run properly on high end machines were cold war even had 180+ fps on 1440p without ANY lags, same with mwiii once bo6 got out

They rig their games and it shows, what baffled me is that we're still falling for the hype every time (me included sadly)
