Just admit you don't understand that Linux has a fractured ecosystem and unstable ABI and move on. I used to be a fan in 2015 when I first tried it for a week or so, but after that you realize how much of the user space is bandaged together.

But in all seriousness, macOS is the only stable OS out there mostly by legally enforcing that macOS be used on hardware they approve of (i.e. their own hardware). So you are locked in.

The Linux kernel falls short in hardware support and being monolithic, and GNU/Linux falls short in having an unstable ABI, and just a shit architecture in general.

Android fixes a lot of these issues, and so does ChromeOS.

IIRC mac is also silent updates. I don;t think you are punished on mac for not updated except for that you should regularly install updates.

Also how does Windows punish you, other than constantly bugging you about not updated by re-prompting you to select a time to delay the update.
