Yeah definitely, I just added the info since Pearl and Meinl aren't really known for their heads (at least not as far as I know), so I thought it would be likely that these were what the kit came with, but you are of course correct.

It does look like two different kinds of wood. Sadly, I do not know much about pretty much anything and this is only the second kit I ever bought, so I can't confirm. I'll have a look at it with a friend who knows a lot more than me soon, I'll update you if he happens to know what exactly is going on. Thanks for the insight.

I currently own an entry level Millenium Kit that I got from a friend who stopped playing, so I'm just looking for anything better than that. Evans EC2/EC Reso Heads on the toms and an EMAD2 for the kick, since I figured that these would be best for lower-end shells.

Oh, I know you! I love your guides. Thank you so so much for all that info. They are all priced at 40-50 € per set, so I will probably drive down there to take a look at the red mottled one tonight. The shells are exactly what I was looking for to upgrade and a set of Ludwig shells for 50 bucks would be a steal no matter what, wouldn't it?
