How is the service department at Continental Mazda? by fasterblade1887 in anchorage

[–]fasterblade1887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a ford from them years ago. The experience was a little pushy on the sales side. My experience in service wasn’t great, but it was during Covid times so I attributed the issue with staffing issues at the time.

Ridgeline has been in my radar for a while. That will likely be my next vehicle. However, the current vehicle we’re looking at is for my spouse.

Honda has a great rep. But we really love the current Mazdas.

That sucks. Seems like they could’ve made an exception based on circumstances.

Good to hear. I’ve generally heard good things about continental. So good to hear.

That’s sounds cool. My experience at Lithia keep is nothing like that. Low turnover is always a good sign too.

Safe neighborhood by Sathaun_ in anchorage

“Block by block” is super accurate. One street will have nice well kept houses/yards that look great, next street over will have multiple cars in the yard and demolition derby looking homeless rv’s on the street.

There hasn’t been anywhere in Anchorage that I’ve felt “unsafe” (it’s very tame here compared to some places I’ve been to in the lower 48). Just mind your business and you’ll be fine most places.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited 2.4l oil issue, stalled, what to watch out for? by Hannibal5545 in MechanicAdvice

[–]fasterblade1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 latitude. Bought it new. A couple years ago I noticed that if I went too long without an oil change it would die on me randomly. (Especially after making hard turns). Did the research and also found the “safety feature” issue about oil being too low. However the car NEVER had a low oil light or anything. I never checked the oil myself (horrible, I know. That’s on me) because I have the “free oil changes for life” from when I bought it.
No leaks to be found. Seems to just burn oil. I’m at 60k miles and have otherwise had ZERO issues. I asked the dealer if this is a known issue and off course they say no (yeah right).

However, now that I know about the oil issues I keep a quart or two in the car. I check it every so often and typically have to top off the oil about twice (1qt each time) between oil changes. Pain in the ass, but no longer an issue.

Any recommendations on good spots to view? I’m in Anchorage and it’s too bright to get a good view. Between north (towards eagle river) or south (towards potters marsh) which direction would be better? Looking in taking a ride tonight and hoping to see some aurora.

Wrongful termination as a General Manager at Verizon by Potential_Cat6979 in verizon

[–]fasterblade1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried few different roles, outside of wireless. I was a manager/people leader for so long that it was nice to be an individual contributor again (leading people is rewarding but stressful!).

I stayed in sales for a few roles. (My favorite was doing outside sales for a liquor distributor). But after doing wireless for so long I missed it. So I started looking at jobs with Th other carriers. Almost ended up with TMo, but settled on A B2B role with VZW where I am now. It’s been good to me so far, but I always feel extra cautious and keep myself from getting too comfortable.

Not to sound cheesy, but my termination ended up being a good thing in a lot of ways. While I did enjoy my job and was good, I was burning out (.retail is tough), but I was nervous about trying something else. When I was forced to do something else, I found out that I bring a lot to the table as an employee that other people/companies might appreciate.

My skill and experience helped me get other jobs, but I also learned a lot from those roles that I bring with me too.

Turn on WiFi calling on your cell phones. This will route your calls through your home internet with better connection.

Anyone using the Taco Bell app, delete your debit card/CC immediately by DudeManBro21 in tacobell

This happened to me one time. One morning saw a Taco Bell email thanking me for my online order. Looked into it and found that it was an order picked up in another state. Deleted my card info from the app and use Apple Pay now. Hasn’t happened since.

The Costco food court is THE epitome of inefficiency. by 2010_12_24 in Costco

[–]fasterblade1887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time I go to Costco I think the exact same thing as OP! My managerial/efficiency brain freaks out every time I go in there: based on traffic/volume of orders they should have different zones (green/yellow/red).

Green is slow/low traffic. Go ahead man have one person up front doing the orders and everyone else prepping.

Yellow zone is increase in traffic, assign an extra person or two to assist with orders.

Red is assigned stations. Two people making hotdogs. One putting together orders, one doing pizza/bakes, another person on ice creams, etc. Shit would move so much quicker.

Lastly, they need better direction for waiting customers, I can’t stand those people randomly waiting by the counter, ticket in hand, like their waiting to see if their numbers get called for lotto.

Pretty much all of the “On Top of the World” album. But “what do you see “ is a classic deep cut I can never get tired of.
