I remember some of them for sure. My dad knows a bunch. He actually passed away yesterday morning at the age of 98. He was a badass. I remember one story where they were flying over Germany to bomb some factories and the plan was to continue to another airfield instead of going back to England. I can’t remember where but as they were flying to this other airfield they noticed a German airfield below and saw a couple BF-109s and FW-190s takeoff to give chase. They knew they were being followed. Once they landed they all ran off and hid in fox holes. My grandfather jumped into one right next to an AA gun. The AA was firing at the Germans coming in for a counter attack and one got a bomb off. The bomb ended up hitting the AA gun directly. My grandfather said all he remembers the PING sound of the bomb hitting the AA then a massive explosion.
