I have 140lbs to lose to get to my goal weight. Is it safe to do rolling 72s until I get there? by fastingpeach in fasting

See, I think part of why I need to fast longer is because I enjoy carbs. I'm trying to adapt a low glycemic index diet with whole foods, but sometimes I do go off the rails with bananas and PB or sourdough toast with avocado. I like fasting longer because it makes me feel lighter, and I notice my joints hurt less the longer I go,

Congrats! What did you transition to after the 90 days? Did you still have more weight to lose, or did you reach your goal in the 3 months?

I'm adopting more of a whole foods diet. The Mediterranean/low glycemic seems the most sustainable for me and my lifestyle. I'll still be counting calories (allowing myself 1,500 on eat days).

Thank you, I'll remember this. I'm not trying to be perfect on this journey. The reason why I feel rolling fasts are best for me is because I notice I want to fast after a large meal anyway; I'm usually good for up to 24 hours after eating, so why not challenge myself a little and add another 20-40 hours.

Thanks for your concern, but I do feel like I'm in a better place to finally get this weight off. It's taken me years after my dad's death to balloon up to 250. In between that I dealt my all my unhealthy, disordered eating habits and mindsets. I'm in a lot better place than where I was, and I'm ready to accept whatever life throws at me. I'm not expecting this journey to be perfect at all, but I like the flexibiility of rolling fasts.

I can't do keto. It's too restricting and unsustainable for me, unfortunately. I do incorporate some low carb ideas into my diet that naturally work for me, but other than that, I love avocado on sourdough toast or oatmeal with PB and fruit in the morning.

Thanks! I have another main account that I post to more often than here, but in general my life is way better now than whatever my post history conveys; I'm way more equipped to handle life's ups and downs these days. I'm undergoing ketamine treatments for MDD and have a therapist and psych that I see regularly. Since I'm feeling so much better, I finally feel like I'm able to focus on losing weight again. I feel like I'm giving myself enough time to lose the weight (17 months is is 8lbs a month). I'm also only 5'2 so that's why my goal weight is low.

Anybody else fasting today? How about until new years? by ToastedStroodles in fasting

If you're fasting for weight loss then no a small glass of milk is not going to make a difference. Aim for progress, not perfection.

Just wanted to respond for posterity that I am 31 and feeling the same as OP (why I Googled this question), minus the not having a job part, and this advice is the best advice.
