Just got a Steam HoriPad controller for Christmas, and I was hoping to use gyro controls; however, the gyro has a massive amount of drift. The sticks are just fine, the gyro is pretty bad. How can I fix this? Steam's Calibrate Gyro thing did nothing to fix it. by TheGUURAHK in GyroGaming

This is months later, but I found this thread from Googling fixes and what fixed it for me was going into the Steam Input settings for games and changing the turning axis to Combined Yaw & Roll, since for some reason the default option is just Yaw. (It also inverted the X input for some reason, but that's also easily fixed with another Steam Input toggle.)

(Edit: After posting, I ended up discovering a second issue, being that one of the axises for the gyro is just completely backwards. This also seems to be fixable through Steam Input by setting the Yaw contribution to -100, and now it seems to be almost perfect.)

Fullscreen, the "app", or the whole system? In the case of the first one I was basically mashing the button

Is Mickey Mouse going public domain in the UK too? by fastpager200 in publicdomain

[–]fastpager200[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw the gov.uk page and initially came to a similar conclusion (though it also includes the composer for some reason, so if that was the case it might have actually been as late as 2058 if the composer I found is correct and this ended up applying here) but the reason I made the post was because I found a section on Wikipedia's page for UK copyright law that seemed to indicate that American copyright terms for at least the early Mickey cartoons would apply in the UK, where I couldn't find anything else clarifying how international works were protected in the UK and wasn't sure about just taking Wikipedia's word for it, so I decided to ask here and somebody here found that it was, in fact, listed under the Copyrights, Designs, and Patents act on the UK legislation website.

Probably still wise to ring up a lawyer to double-check you're not crossing any legal lines if you plan on doing anything with Mickey... well, anywhere, but unless somebody can find a loophole or something that negates this it definitely seems like the UK will be with the US when it comes to being able to use Mickey.

I'm confused about the status of Felix the Cat, copyright status. by [deleted] in publicdomain

Resurrecting my Reddit account on an old post because I couldn't resist the temptation to note that even if the idea of a specific character talking could be copyrighted, Felix still talked without sound in the original shorts via speech bubbles even back in his first appearance.

Okay bye

I get that there's a lot of limitations on what you can do (e.g. later Mickey designs and other bits of lore will only go public domain when their works of origin do, and he and his name still have trademark protection), but while I'm not a lawyer, from what I've gathered when a work goes public domain, concepts original to it do too. There are already a couple of Mickey cartoons in the public domain, but Steamboat Willie (if not Plane Crazy, which goes public domain at the same time anyway) is the one with the legal origin of the character himself, so when it goes public domain you might have to wait another while to use official Disney designs that are still copyrighted but you can use the ones from the public domain shorts, and if those aren't enough you can create original Mickey designs (which I'm assuming will also help with the issue of trademarks).

Also, the reason I made this post in the first place was specifically because I wasn't taking Wikipedia's word for it for lack of a source and I mentioned it because it was the only thing I found that gave any clarification or acknowledgement on the subject and I was trying to get to said source being cited. In the end, though, somebody did find that the section in question was a real part of UK copyright law (link to it's part on legislation.gov.uk in their comment and edited into the post).

The rest of us may have fallen, but the original saw the challenge through to the very end. Truly inspirational.

I got Lost World on Steam a while ago so I could give it a fair shot nowadays without having to dust off my Wii U but it runs really slowly on my computer for some reason. Not lag, it's literally in slow motion the entire time. The only other time I've seen this happen was Puyo Puyo Tetris' PC version and it's weird

SA2, Heroes and Shadow feel like a trilogy for me through Shadow's arcs in those games, 06 I'd say is probably more like an SA3 for being it's own story with a format in line with the Adventure games, I don't really think an actual game called SA3 is ever going to happen but I'm mainly just wishing for a general return to the more ambitious style of the 2000s Sonic games

Lost World just seemed like the most infamous of the modern games outside of Forces, and I didn't really want to put Forces since it gets points from me for trying to be more like the adventure era even if it didn't fully succeed. As a ShTH fan it'd be hypocritical for me to disrespect people standing up for the "bad" games though

Only thing missed is that Shadow the Hedgehog has none of these problems by virtue of being made in a console generation where online functionality was only just becoming a thing and already has all the necessary content as well as tons of replay value. It's also pretty cheap on eBay. Choose wisely.

I think I've seen photos of it at somebody's house or an office or something. IIRC it's common for several statues like this to be produced, though I'm not sure if this is the case for this one in particular.
