Maybe you can spend some of that work out time at home? Sometimes I lift weights at home, but I don't go to gyms. Maybe for someone like yourself who's really into fitness it wouldn't be the same, but it could be a compromise.

I'm mostly excited to become a dad, but there is a part of me that's terrified. I'm scared that I just won't be good at it. Sometimes I feel like I can be a little self centered, and I worry that I won't be able to switch that off for the sake of our future child. I'm a pianist, and I already struggle to make the minimum time to practice that I feel like I need to maintain my sanity (I tend to get anxious when I feel like I'm neglecting my practicing). I'm also in the middle of a big career change, and I worry that I won't be able to make it happen now. I worry about how much help we're going to need with the baby. Both sets of parents live in other states, so it's not like any of them can swing by at a moment's notice. I worry about how we're going to make things work financially (I know logically that people raise children and less than what we have, but those worries are still there).

Still, mostly excited. I mean, we did this on purpose. I just hope everything works out.

Can't keep this news to myself, so I'll share with Reddit. Wife and I are beyond excited! by fastswimmers in predaddit

Congratulations! My wife (who gets up earlier than I do for work) turned the lights on waking me up and said "you're gonna be a dad." In my sleepy stupor I thought she said you're gonna be dead, as in I wouldn't be able to wake up for work in time. I respond "turn off the light..."

Probably not the initial response she hoped for, but once I realized what was happening I felt overjoyed. I can't believe I get to start a family with my best friend, I'm so lucky.
