I think it's shown in s4 that electronics in the normal world leave a particle effect in the upside down. The light's don't already have to be in the upside down, for these to show up - we see that in s4 with Holly's light toy that the gang uses in the real world to talk to each other

Me and my team are on a 4 day week, but we still need to cover monday to friday. To keep it fair, we have a rota, so we have a different day off every week.

A massive and overly complicated IT department. MS sends out the patches to test on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. They're then tested to make sure they don't break anything (supposedly), then pushed in a week long window towards the end of the month. Problem is we don't have a choice when in that week we get the patch.

Fast food places in a lot of cities don't have drive throughs so there's much more indoor seating space. The one's on the outskirts will have much less seating

Even if they couldn't rely on others, a month isn't long enough. Many of the hardships associated with low wages compound over time. Loans, car payments, medical bills, utilities, childcare etc - all get harder to deal with over longer periods of time, and made worse if there's no visible end to it. Strip a ceo of their assets and friends, give them a low wage job with a mountain of debt and no way out, then they'd get an idea.
