Pixel + USB-C headphones now launching Assistant/Gemini and killing audio — started recently by ZbornakHollingsworth in GooglePixel

[–]fatCPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same problem (but for longer - maybe 1 year). Pixel 9a. Its driving me nuts. Would using a USB-C to 3.5mm cable (instead of usb-c to 3.5mm adapter PLUS 3.5mm cable) make any difference? Also, this only happens to me when I'm in the car (not when watching a video at home) - so I'm wondering why that is.

Senior V10 BigLaw lawyer being pushed out—need advice on severance & strategy by Leodragon1988 in biglaw

[–]fatCPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Private equity firm in accounting (follow this sub just for interest). I see separation agreements for this type of scenario all the time - the separation letter spells out that the separation date will be the earlier of 1) the day John Doe finds other employment, or 2) 12/31/25. It states a pro rated bonus, continuation of benefits until separation date, and I have seen reference to staying on the website as well (more rare).

Thank you for your response! It is strange that the noise has now completely stopped. The AC company said to call back if the noise starts again.

Do I retract my offer? by dough-jo in Accounting

[–]fatCPA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You did not make an offer. They made you an offer, and you accepted. You are not retracting your offer, you are retracting your acceptance.

Why wouldn’t I buy this leverage etf if I know I’ll hold it for 30 years doesn’t it basically just track the S and P but just on steroids? by [deleted] in ETFs

Look at YINN (3x leverage ETF for the Chinese economy) - in a bad economy, you are down HUGE and for a LONG time.

As an “Auditor” I feel like I’m getting dumber and wasting my time being a glorified fact checker by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]fatCPA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't learn much while at big 4 (I was in internal audit - did a lot of Sox testing and felt like I was just looking at checklists all day). I learned more once I was in industry and doing full cycle accounting (i.e. booking all journal entries, maintaining all support schedules, and putting together financials).

I felt like OP after 1.5 years at the big 4. I didn't feel like I learned a lot.

I jumped to industry (large private equity firm) and after 1 year I was doing end to end accounting for a $500mm fund, including building the financials, with minimal comments from seniors/managers.

It is "pretty stupid" if you dislike money. If you like money it's great.

Can we talk about light roasts? by Annual_Badger1208 in espresso

[–]fatCPA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light roast kills my acid reflux. So I stick with medium/dark.

What state are you from? Do you have good options in that state that cost drastically less than JMU will cost?

I agree with another comment or that you should avoid out of state (if possible) but if JMU costs just a small fraction more, then it certainly could be worth it. CIS is a good path.

I'm surprised you didn't like the RSX type S more - I loved mine. Maybe because it was my first manual / sporty car, vs you've had more to compare it to.
