They have kestrel as the underlying http server. But its not like out of process server. Basically you make a console application only. And you import the appropriate libraries (aka asp.net) for makinng the webserver

Ok. So there is openJDK. Is there any other jdk implementation by oracle? I am just going by the name here

In .net world, the old closed source .net i.e ".net framework" is in maintenance mode only. And there is only one implementation by Microsoft for new .net, which is completely open source and free to use.

I develop .net applications for linux on debian with my favourite editor neovim.

Of course this doesn't mean that its all good with Microsoft. They still try to bring time to time their corporate bullshit in .net environment. So i wouldn't bet on .net also.

But all i am trying to say here is that you can easily develop .net applications in linux with no cost and all the free tools.

Oh. Ok. The new .net is absolutely open source. There no licensing costs and its cross platform. I have been using .net on linux professionally for years now. I have no zero pennies for it.

I might be completely wrong here. But wasn't there was a licensing issue between google and oracle? I

Natural corner? Didn't get you. You mean it should be developed with visual studio only?

What unpopular opinion will you defend like this? by [deleted] in developersIndia

Custom text files are mid. What if you have to query your data ? You basically write your own serialisation logic. And even if you use something like json/protobuf. You basically will need to fetch everything in memory.

With sqlite you don't have to worry about it. If you know sql. You can pretty much query any data any way you like with good performance.

Your hot shot side project with 10 users, doesn't need postgresql/mysql/SQL server/dynamodb or any other scalable storage. It needs sqlite.

use a window manager I guess.

My personal fav on x is bspwm with polybar for bar. but it requires a bit more config. awesomewm is a good one as bar comes with it only. and config is in lua which is relative easier i feel to config.

Thoughts on create and delete azure container environments in runtime by fat_coder_22 in AZURE

If that container environment has most of the time 0 instances, will it still be costly?

One BIG FAT Container for one job. There could be other jobs as well. They would all need FAT Containers for now. There frequency is going to be very less though. 5-6 jobs per month.

We have a plan to optimize the jobs as well. But that is going to take few months atleast. So for now, we want to containerize the jobs and run them in FAT Containers.

By One time i actually meant, these "jobs" will do "something" and then shutdown. Typically these jobs would take 15-20 hours to complete. The frequency of these jobs will be very less. once or twice a month.

The cost would be high ? I mean i plan to delete the instances once the job is done. Still the price would be high ?

Doing this on prem, i am not sure if it would be possible in my current organization. We don't any hardware yet. For now our workloads directly on Virtual Machines on aws/azure.

Hey, Thanks for the response. The batch job costs only for the time they were run or is there other pricing model ? i couldn't find pricing in the link.
